Hi I'm Lucy

I'm a 5th generation Arizona native and 3rd generation ASU graduate. I'm a copy editor, a mother, and a Mormon.

About Me

By day, I kiss the boo-boos of my darling daughter, am shadowed by a Pomeranian pooch, and carry my hunky husband in my heart, tending to their needs as best I can. I love APA format and style, and copyedit from home for one of ASU's online scholarly journals. I care deeply about social issues, especially when it comes to children and their welfare, health, and education. After 12 years of loss, infertility, and childlessness, my husband and I finally became parents through the gift and blessing of adoption. I am incredibly grateful for the bonds of love and friendship we share with our daughter's birth family.

Why I am a Mormon

It is my faith that has brought comfort to my heart in times of trial. As a child I knew that the gospel of Jesus Christ was true because of my parent’s examples. They taught me this through their words and actions every day of my life. When I was a young girl I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true because of the many loving, kind, dedicated Primary and Sunday school teachers who never missed an opportunity to bear witness of the truthfulness of the gospel. Due to that foundation, when I was a young woman and going through some especially difficult times, I knew I could pray to Heavenly Father for help... and for peace. It was on my knees in prayer as a teenager that I eventually gained a testimony of the gospel for myself. Because of my religious upbringing, I knew to seek heavenly aid no matter how worthless, terrible, and lonely I felt. I knew I was not alone and the reality of God's love for me was unconditional and something I could not deny... because I felt it- the comfort of the Holy Ghost, and the healing power of Jesus Christ. And that was enough to calm my troubled heart then... and now.

How I live my faith

Praying, studying my scriptures, journaling, teaching my daughter the gospel, sharing what I know with friends and neighbors, serving at church as a teacher and leader through the years, and supporting those around me. Sunday is honestly my favorite day of the week. I enjoy attending church with my husband and daughter, surrounded by friends and neighbors who have truly become our extended family. Meeting together, singing hymns of praise, partaking of the sacrament, listening to stories of faith and perserverence despite the ups and downs of life, from the scriptures and from our peers, brings such joy to my life!
