Hi I'm Jessi.

I'm a mental health advocate for teenage girls, graduate student, a sucker for travel, lover of people, and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of four kids and have lived throughout the western US for most of my life. I did a study abroad in Vienna, Austria during my undergrad...LOVED it! I love travelling anytime I can afford it, and won't lose my job from taking too much time off :) Professionally, I research human development and work in residential treatment with teenage girls. I'm currently trying to figure out where on earth I want to settle long term now that I'm supposedly grown up. The people in my life mean everything to me and I love spending time with them. I'm an aunt to three nephews and a niece, a little sister to three older siblings, a daughter, and friends with (hopefully) many. Last year I took the plunge and cut off my long hair! Now I'm loving the pixie haircut and have always been a red-head wannabe.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe this is the most powerful method for finding and maintaining peace in my life. The more devoted I am to the religious practices (in a balanced manner), the greater sense of self I typically feel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making my relationship with God a daily priority. I believe that if I am square with Him, I can feel confident about my position in life. Through personal prayer and meditation, I recognize gentle counsel from Him that gives me the confidence to know I am living true to the faith. I then feel loyal to Him as I do my best to follow through with His counsel, and our relationship is in turn strengthened. My relationship with God also makes it easier for me to feel His love. Feeling His love is probably the single most motivating factor for me to live true to the faith when I'd otherwise prefer another route. I believe God has my best interest in mind, and so I am willing to trust Him.
