Hi I'm Matt.

I love to watch and play all kinds of sports. I like working in the yard and playing games with the family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a very playful person. It is hard for me to take anything serious. I love playing basketball and if I could I would play 4 or 5 times a week. If I could get a group of people together on a regular basis I would love to play football, volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee too. I have been married for 10 years and we have 3 kids. Family is extremely important to me. I love to play games and rough house with the kids. My wife is my best friend and I can't imagine my life without her. My other hobbies include watching TV and movies. I love playing computer games and surfing the internet. When there is good weather I like to work in the yard and go on hikes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS Church. I have never had the desire or interest to investigate other churches and religions. The ones I have been to feel very different, they are missing something. Here are 5 main things that I feel are missing and different: 1) The power and gift of the Holy Ghost. It is a constant companion when we are living righteously and the Lord is able to help guide us in our decisions through this gift. 2) The authority to act in God's name through His priesthood, the same that existed during the Old and New Testament times. 3) A living prophet of God, just as there always has been in ancient times. Surely the Lord wants to help give us direction and counsel, and He does it through a modern-day living prophet. How are we to know the will of God without a spokesman? 4) The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a true book about an ancient people on the American continent that were led away by the Lord from Jerusalem. It is not a book to counter doctrine and principles given in the Bible, but together they become a foundation of knowledge and His commandments. Two witnesses are always better than one. 5)The belief and knowledge that we are actual Sons and Daughters of a Heavenly Father. We are all of noble birth. He has sent us here on Earth to go through trials and tests so we can prove ourselves worthy to become like Him. Everyone is our spirit brother or sister, and should be treated as such. I know that these things are true. These principles are talked about in the scriptures, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know Jesus Christ is our elder brother and he suffered for our sins so we could return to our Heavenly Father. He was resurrected so we could all follow in that path and live again. I know these things through prayer and the reassuring feelings I have received from the Holy Ghost. There is a plan and a purpose to this earthly life. He wants us to be happy and return to Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing as the Savior would, to a lesser degree, but I'm trying to be like Him. I have grown to love service. It is extremely rewarding to help those in need. Not only to see the smiles on their faces, but the Lord rewards me with a peace and happiness that is hard to find in the world today. The Lord's church is a church of volunteers and acceptance of assignments. I have taught Sunday School to other members of our church. I have been an adviser of sorts for the youth in our church, mainly the boys. I enjoy their energy and willingness to learn. When I was 19 I volunteered for 2 years and went to Spain as a missionary for our church. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I learned so much about myself, the gospel and about the Savior. It was hard, we didn't have much success, but it was definitely well worth it. I plan to go on another mission or two with my wife after I retire.
