Hi I'm Maureen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who loves my role as a woman. I love many things from reading, traveling, and cooking, to name just a few! But my greatest passion is my role as wife, mother, and grandmother. It brings me great joy and satisfaction to create a home for my family, not just a house to live in. I love to try to create a place where my husband, children and our friends feel happy, welcome and important. Where things are orderly...certainly not perfect, but where the Spirit of our Heavenly Father can be present. Where people are listened to and loved. Where there is good food and good conversation. A place where there is time for reading scriptures and studying the gospel together. Time for laughter, fun and play together. A place for talking around the table after a meal together. A place where we work together and try to become better people together and a place to belong. It takes my very best effort and time to work toward these things, but it is in these things I find my greatest joy and deepest fulfillment as a person.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it feels right and correct to my soul. I was born into an LDS family, but there came a time in my life as a young person, when I wanted to know for myself if the things I had been taught were true. I have studied, prayed and learned for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true restored church on the earth today. I know God has always provided prophets for His children down through the ages. I know that God called Joseph Smith, a young, humble boy to restore the true and living church and that it is patterned after the church Jesus organized when He lived here upon the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that I feel close to my Heavenly Father as I read, study, ponder and apply the teachings found in the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I know that Thomas S. Monson is His prophet on the earth today, along with 12 apostles, who with priesthood power and authority from God guide and direct His holy work among all the peoples of the earth. I know that any sincere seeker of truth can read the Book of Mormon and study the tenets of the gospel and then ask God if it be true. They can know for themselves through personal revelation from God.

How I live my faith

I try to live every day like my Heavenly Father would want me to. I am an imperfect person with many faults and struggles; but I do love the Lord and try to follow His example. I desire to be an influence for good through living Christ’s teachings. I have served with the women of all ages in our church, as well as with the children programs. I have also worked with the boys and young men through Scouting. Right now I volunteer as a welfare service missionary at the facility the L.D.S. Church has to help members who are in need of food commodities. I enjoy working with the different parent organizations at my children’s schools. I care for my 94 year old mother in our home which is a great blessing to our family. I find great joy in finding ways to help and serve others.
