Hi I'm Melinda

I am a wife and the mother of five. I am a singer, a dog lover and a writer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love friends, parties, family gatherings, and meeting new people. My husband and I have five children that are just about all grown and when our home is full of them and their friends my heart is content. Living in the desert region gives us year round chances to be outside. I love the vast sky, off-roading and camping in the woods or in the desert in the middle of the winter when the cacti are covered in frost. We can have a cook-out in the middle of winter. I have traveled to many countries and lived in three of them; the perfect chance to embrace many cultures and people from several walks of life. I speak both English and Italian fluently and can understand at least a little Spanish. I grew up with many pets and have a home full of them. Dogs are the best of domestic animals but a horse can melt my heart every time. I grew up singing. Choirs, solos, weddings, funerals, professional choruses and church. I absolutely love to sing. My kids grew up with many bedtime lullabies. But above all, my favorite pastime is writing. I just finished my first novel and even won an award with it! I want to write book after book for the rest of my life. When I see a stack of clean white paper I long to fill it with words. It is the same type of yearning that I feel for a long bubble bath while reading a wonderful book So if my day consists of loved ones, a few animals, some music and good books to read or write I consider it a success!

Why I am a Mormon

I will never be able to express enough gratitude for the Gospel, my Savior and my Heavenly Father. I grew up in an LDS home and will also be forever grateful for that. But even from a young age I felt independent and wanted to make my own decision as to whether or not I believed The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints was true and would follow it. So I took the steps to make that decision as a young teenager when opportunities came for me to either break the commandments or stay on the path of the Gospel I had been taught. I went to the Lord to ask for his opinion- ha! I spoke to him through prayer and he answered me back through his words in the scriptures and the warmth and clarity of mind that came from him through the power of the Holy Ghost. I knew the Gospel, and the Book of Moron were true and that the Lord knew and loved me personally. He had taken the time to answer me and has continued to guide me to this day through those same ways. I cannot fathom a life with-out my Savior. And I would not want to contemplate an eternity with-out him either! I know that through the power of his sacred priesthood that I have received blessings and personal revelation and guidance. Through that same power I was able to be married in one of His temples to my husband. We will be married for all eternity and our precious children will be ours for all eternity as well. I know the Lord lives. I know HE LOVES EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS CHILDREN. He gave us the commandments to protect us from the small or devastating consequences of sin and to help us avoid painful mistakes because we are all precious to him. I know that He restored his Gospel in its fullness through his prophet Joseph Smith and that he guides the world through a living prophet today because he wants to help us all that he can. If we can only listen, only feel, only take the time to ask him- he will answer our prayers. I know the Lord is there with all of my heart and soul for every single one of us.

How I live my faith

I love church! I love going to the meetings where I can find the teachings of the Lord and the spirit of The Holy Ghost to fill my spiritual reservoir with strength, comfort, pure knowledge, answers to prayers and love. I attend a "ward" or in other words, a large congregation every Sunday. I love serving in my ward. I see and interact with neighbors that have become precious friends that are like family. And I love sitting together as a family to learn together. I have taught dozens of lessons to the women, been the president of our young women's group and taught children's lessons. I have sung in the choir and sang many solos, etc in church meetings. I have helped with the activities, girls-camp, church parties and service projects. I also attend one of our temples so that I can serve the Lord and loved ones. As a mother I have striven to teach my children the Gospel and how much the Lord and Savior loves them. My children are not just precious to me, they are precious to the Lord. I can help them to know that they are children of God and worth so much more than what "the world" would have them believe. I believe in our youth and their ability to stay chaste and clean and to reach for the sky with their goals. In our home we read scriptures and have gospel discussions together as well as having family prayer together. It is a daily armor and peace through the trials of this life. I have my own scripture study or scripture searching for the answers and guidance that I personally need for all kinds of decisions or problems. I want to be an inspired woman. I want to be fulfilled, independent, wise, and knowledgeable. Through gospel teachings and turning to the Lord every day in prayer I can and do have that. The world is troubled in countless ways but the answers ARE there. Peace through the hard-times and pain is possible. His Gospel is true. The Lord DOES hear and answer our prayers. I testify to that truth in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
