Hi I'm Madison Durkin

I've lived in Colorado, California, Arizona, Utah and Florida. I'm a new mother and I'm a hairstylist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I met in May 2009, and we got married in September 2009. After a year and a half we were blessed with a beautiful little girl. I am mostly a stay at home mom but I'm also a hairstylist, I enjoy reading, going on walks, and traveling. My husband is going to school full time, and also working. Both of our families live close by, so we enjoy spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 13 years old, I pulled my dad aside one Sunday during church and told him I needed to ask him a question in private. I remember asking him "Why do we go to this church? Am I really supposed to believe all of this stuff about Jesus Christ dying for our sins, and Joseph Smith being a prophet? Doesn't this all seem a little strange to you?" then my dad shared with me his testimony and told me it was good that I wanted to find out for myself if the church was true. So I began reading and studying the scriptures and prayed to know if the church was true. That upcoming summer my parents asked me if I wanted to go to EFY (Especially for Youth), and I was pretty excited about going. During one of the last days, all of us youth sang "We'll Bring the World His Truth" and "As Sisters in Zion". It immediately brought tears to my eyes, I felt the spirit so strongly at that moment, and I knew right then the church was true and from then on I've had such a strong testimony of this Gospel. I love my Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and he loves each and every one of us, and I am so thankful to have the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

In our ward, I am in charge of putting together and overseeing activities for all of the women. I like this calling because it helps me get to know all of the sisters in the ward.
