Hi I'm Eric

I am Canadian. I'm an older brother who loves his family. I live everyday sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old and like any other guy my age I'm doing my best to enjoy life to the fullest. Right now I am serving as a full time missionary in the Australian Brisbane Mission. I've been living in Australia for a year now and I am the happiest I've ever been. I've been waiting for this opportunity all my life and now that I'm finally here I'm doing all I can to serve the Lord. When I get home I plan on studing to become a high school teacher because I want to be someone who can teach and prepare those who need it against the trials and hardships of life. My family is the most important part of my life and I miss them everyday but I know that I'll see them again soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised along with my young sister and brothers by my mother as member of this church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and always went to church with my family. I believe that every member, whether you've been coming to church for 1 year or 100 years, needs to find out for themselves if they truely believe or if they believe because others believe. When I was a teenager I felt as though I didn't know for sure if this really was the true church. I needed to find out for myself. I knew that God wouldn't lie to me so if I simply asked him, I would get my answer. I went through this a number of times, as being a teenager is hard and I felt as though I was constantly questioning myself. I used to think I could pin point my conversion to a specific event in my life, but I now realize that I can't. My conversion is on going. Everyday I feel our Heavenly Father's love for me, and everyday I can feel the Holy Ghost confirming to me the truthfulness of the message I share. I know that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of us all, and that through following him we can live with our families and loved ones together with our Heavenly Father for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as a missionary. I have been called to serve in Australia and I know that this is exactly where our Heavenly Father needs me to be. My purpose is to invite others to come onto Christ by recieving his restored gospel. I want to help people. It's as simple as that. I know the happiness that has been brought to my life and I am here to share the same with everyone. As I've been here I've seen for myself more fully the blessings that our Heavenly Father gives us each day. I've come to know that a strong testimony can be built by continuously praying, reading the scriptures, and from church attendance. Everyday I live my life knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and wants what's best for me, and just like any other parent, will be there to help me through anything.

What is the First Vision?

Jospeh Smith grew up in a time where there were a lot of different churches. All the churches claimed to teach the truth but they often disagreed with eachother. All this confusion led Joseph to wonder which church was right. He went to the churches and when he couldn't get an answer that way, he turned his focus on studying the Bible. One day as he was reading he came across the scripture in James 1:5 which reads, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph decided to do just what it says and ask God. Joseph went to a grove of trees near his house and asked God, through prayer, which church he should join. It was then that our Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph. He wrote: "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other-This is my beloved Son. Hear Him!" Joseph was told to join none of the churches and that through him, Jesus Christ would restore his true church. Even though I have never had an expierence like this myself, I know that he did and that prayers are answered. If you want to know if this really happened to Joseph Smtih all you need to do is pray and ask. Show more Show less
