Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a husband. I'm a father of four. I'm a dentist by day and an aspiring artist/writer by night. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost I am a husband and father. This really occupies most of my time outside of my profession, which is dentistry. I graduated from dental school in the east and part of my heart still resides there. I have many things that I love to do. I absolutely love all types of music and even at work you will find me singing a song and sometimes not so quietly. I love the arts. I grew up involved in pottery, but have always enjoyed drawing and have more recently gotten into writing, mostly poetry and would love to do some more photography. I also am a big sports fan. I love all sports, but some of my favorites are baseball, basketball, tennis, and pickle ball (You have to be from either Washington or Arizona to know what this is). We live out in the country and love the outdoors and love working on our property as well. I love to read. It makes me feel a little more alive. I love fiction, but have recently been enjoying some historical works as well and like a good motivational book every once in a while if it is written well. I also love movies, but I do have to admit that the ones that I see that will stick with me for a long time are becoming fewer and fewer. Every once in a while though a stunner comes along. Over all, I love life and all that it entails and I thank my Heavenly Father each day for the blessing it is too live.

Why I am a Mormon

This is such an interesting question and it has many layers to the answer. I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from birth. For many reasons though I did not really appreciate what that really meant and over the years found myself moving further and further away from the type of life style that a member of Christ's church should be involved in. Like many who have come before me I had one significant event that altered the path that I was on and help me to be able to find and acknowledge my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. This alone though is not why I am a Mormon. Though I will never be able to deny all that I felt in the sacred experience that I had, after it was over I was as fresh and new spiritually as a baby and had nowhere to go but up. My life has been filled with so many wonderful experiences and opportunities since then that have built upon the Rock that I discovered that day that have helped me to become the person I am today, the Mormon that I am today. I also have had many times where I have shed more tears then I wish to remember pleading for forgiveness from my Father in Heaven, and those that I have offended, and this has also made me the person I am today, the Mormon I am today. I have so many rough edges, but over the years, with the help of my Savior small parts of me have been rounded off and I know that as I follow the precepts that are a part of being a member of Christ's church, of being a Mormon, I will will one day be a smooth rock. This is why I why I am the person that I am; this is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in everything that I do. I believe that the way you live is the definition of your faith. I do all that I can to be the type of person that the Savior wants me to be. I believe that Faith is a very physical thing and can mostly only be manifest through my actions. I do all I can to listen to that little voice inside of me that encourages me to do good and give to others. The more I do these things, the more I follow this voice, the more my faith grows. Within my church I live my faith by helping others come unto Christ. I am involved in the proselyting division of my church where I live. This involves helping members of our area who are having difficulties in their lives which are leading them away from the Savior, come back to church and back to their Savior. It also involves going out and spreading "the good news". Sharing our beliefs with those who have never heard about us before or maybe with those who have. Christ wants all of His children to come unto Him and I have been called to help that come to pass in our area of the world. I enjoy sharing the faith that I have and it also in turn helps my faith to grow. I also live my faith by sharing it with my children and helping them gain a relationship with their Savior. I will be a happy man and will have live a wonderful life if I can get to the end with my wife and children by my side sharing in the joy that I feel from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Tyler
I echo what President Hinckley said and bear my witness that I know that it is through Our Heavenly Father and Saviors ordain prophets that His word is spread. Prophets are called in this day and Joseph Smith was the first to be called and played such an important role in God's plan and many have followed him including President Gordon B. Hinckley. They have all blessed our lives and we can only become better from following that which they receive from the Lord. Show more Show less
