Hi I'm Ken Fergen

I work at the YMCA as a janitor. I clean the workout machines. I try to be a artist. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy drawing pictures of cartoon characters and superheros. I like to sketch freehand by following instructions in a step-by-step drawing book. My drawings have won awards at the State Fair. I have won first prize twice for drawings of my own original superheros. I have also won second prize three times, once for a framed picture of two superheros, and the other two prizes for drawings of a falcon and the other of an angelfish. Something else enjoy doing is going to the movies. I especially like the Walt Disney animated movies. Some of the movies I've enjoyed the most are the Lion King and the Toy Story movies. I also enjoyed Shrek. m

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, I saw an episode of a TV program that had a character who was supposed to be a Mormon. Something he did gave me a bad impression of the Mormon church, and because of that I didn't want to know anything more about it. When I was about 23 years old, I lived with a member of the Mormon Church. At the time, I was a Catholic. One day my roommate needed a ride to church. The person who came to get him gradually became my friend too. He gave me a Book of Mormon and I started reading it. He asked me if I would like the missionaries to come and teach me about the church. He also invited me to church activities and events. I continued studying with the missionaries and praying with my roommate. After a period of time, one of the missionaries told me that when a person is baptized they can receive the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. I knew my parents would not be happy if I joined the Mormon Church, but I wanted that companionship of the Holy Ghost. I timidly decided to be baptized. Now I have been a member of the Mormon Church since 1977. Over time my testimony has grown and now I know that what the church teaches is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church each week and by studying my scriptures and lessons. I try to only go to decent movies that don't have sex and violence and bad words. At church my job is as the Adult Sunday School Class President. I am in charge of seeing that the attendance roll gets passed around. I welcome the new members and guests, and also the regular members. I invite someone to say the opening and closing prayers. My other job or calling is as the Single Adult Representative. I announce the Single Adult activities to the members of the ward. I like to attend the Single Adult activities when I can. I especially enjoy the dances and the game and movie nights. I'm also a Home Teacher. As a Home Teacher I watch over the needs of the three families I have in my Home Teaching assignment.
