Hi I'm Sarah

I've wrestled 'gators, swam the English Channel, and scaled the Empire State building.. I really haven't, but I'm a Mormon.

About Me

It all began when a guy jumped on the hood of a girl's car in rush hour traffic to get her number because he thought she was cute. Thankfully my Mom didn't run my Dad over and married him three months later (one might call her a lunatic, but I love her), three years later they had me (there were 5 more that followed) and joined the Mormon church. I love to play golf, basketball and floor hockey, but enjoy watching ice hockey, soccer and college football. I am a self proclaimed nerd that loves movies about zombies, characters created by that Walt guy, teenage wizards, Jedi's and I can't turn down a good complicated love story. I also can't turn down a good rock show, especially in Seattle. I love to create new things through writing, drawing, and photography. I pretend I'm good at singing and even host live performances for selected few (they typically happen in my car or at home). I love the outdoors and when the weather's good love nature walks and hiking. I aspire to run my own design business one day. I am deathly afraid of birds, sharks, outer space and slugs. I consider myself to be fun, loyal, sarcastic, goofy, awesome (but I'm definitely biased), loving, empathetic and a daydreamer. I try my hardest to be a good example and accept everyone for who they are, as one of Heavenly Father's children.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager my family fell away from the church, I felt a lot of pressure to be the spiritual backbone of the family. I then decided to take my own path with what might be acceptable to the "World", I made a lot of decisions that I'm not proud of. After feeling alone and used, I felt the need to "try" church again. I have never felt so much love and forgiveness from my Heavenly Father. Since then I have been 100% active in the church having a strong testimony that I know this is God's true church on the Earth, he loves everyone no matter their decisions, lifestyles, or position in life. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for all of our sins so that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. He is truly our Savior and I love him more than anything. I also know there is a Prophet on this Earth sent to guide us just like in the Bible times to give us revelation from God. My favorite place on this Earth is the Mormon Temple. I am a Mormon because I choose to be, it helps me feel comfort and security in our Heavenly Father's plan.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by reading scriptures and prayer. At church I teach the teenage girls ages 16-18 and help assist in planning events for all of our youth ages 12-18. I also coach the girls church basketball and volleyball teams. I live everyday trying to be the best example I can. I try to love everyone no matter their circumstance; I have a brother who is gay, friends who are transgendered and acquaintances who struggle with addiction.. Christ has told us to love everyone and I try to follow his example each day.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Sarah
There are many reasons why we perform such ordinances for those who have passed on: 1. They never received the opportunity to hear the true Gospel of Jesus Christ (either by living in a time when it was not yet back on the Earth, or just never having the opportunity to live in an area where there were missionaries or helpful members of the Church). 2. They may have heard the teachings but either by choice or opportunity they were never baptized with the power of the Priesthood (The power given to Man from God to exercise and perform such ordinances as baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost). Heavenly Father gave each person the gift of free agency (the ability to choose for ourselves) and we believe that those who pass on keep the personality they had while on the Earth, so after we've done the work for these people they have the opportunity on the other side to choose for themselves if this is something they want for them, but we want to give everyone the chance to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father who cares so much about his children and their eternal happiness. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Sarah
Jesus Christ is the foundation in which our Church is built. He is our personal Savior who helped create this Earth with our Heavenly Father, and IS the Son of God. He came to this Earth to minister, heal and pave the path for us to return to our Heavenly Father. He gave us the example of baptism, which is the first step to eternal life, he plead for our forgiveness in the Garden of Gethsemane and ultimately gave his life on the cross so that we can repent of our sins and be made whole again. Through his resurrection we too are also promised that we will be resurrected and be with family once more upon this Earth. Show more Show less
