Hi I'm Dana

I'm a wife and mom. I'm a CPA. I love living in Sammamish, WA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City - in fact lived there my whole life until 5 years ago when we moved to the Seattle area. I love where I live! I LOVE Seattle and specifically love Sammamish! I love Lake Sammamish because I take my kids there with their friends and we have a riot and I love Lake Sammamish because I go with my friends and waterski and have a riot. I have had a great time exploring lots of the area on a tandem bike with my husband! I have 4 kids altogether, two girls and two boys. Two are in college right now, one is serving a mission in Brazil and one is a senior in high school. I am also a CPA and have been lucky enough to work from home for the past 5 years...which means that I can be around to take care of my kids and our home and also take off once in a while...like to waterski! I am lucky to live by an LDS temple and I love going there!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon and always went to church with my family, but it wasn't until I was about 21 that I really developed my own testimony and desire to learn and grow in the Church. At that time, I read the Book of Mormon with a sincere intent to gain a testimony of my own and that is exactly what happened. I know that Jesus Christ is the central figure in the Book of Mormon and I know that peace and joy in this life come through Him. I am a Mormon because the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings me closer to Christ on a daily basis. I am a Mormon because as I come closer to Christ, and as I gain a better understanding of our Heavenly Father, I gain clarity and peace because I know I am a daughter of God and have a divine nature. That knowledge not only brings me peace and strength in this life but also provides me with a purpose for my time here on earth is and a better understanding of what life will be like after we leave this earth. I am a Mormon because I know my family will be together forever thanks to the ordinances of the Church that we are able to participate in. What more could anyone want :)?

How I live my faith

I live my faith in lots of small and simple ways, like saying prayers with my kids as they leave the house each day, like helping them wake up early to go to special church class called seminary that is held before school, and by paying tithes and offerings. Some of the most profund experiences I have on a regular basis, occur as I read and study the scriptures and Church doctrine and as I pray. I do these things on a daily basis and I know that is a great source of happiness and spiritual strength for me and helps me immeasurably in my life. I also attend the temple regularly for special kinds of worship. There is a temple about 30 minutes from where I live so I am very lucky to be able to go there often and drink of the Spirit that is felt there. I also live my faith by serving in the Church. My specific job, or "calling" in the Church right now is to work with the girls who are between 8 and 11 years old. We have activities with them twice a month where we teach them about serving others, about how to develop their talents and about living the Gospel. It is fun to spend this time with these kids. The church as an organization seeks out service opportunities - chances to serve people within our church but also people and organizations that are not part of the church. I am lucky when I have a chance to serve others in whatever capacity because then I can be the hands and arms of Christ for a brief moment.
