Hi I'm Richard

I have been a Mormon my entire life. I know that any where I go, I will have friends that will understand and be there for me.

About Me

I am a traveler. I love to wander randomly around the country exploring mountains, rivers and remote locations. I do not get to go out as much now that I am older and have responsibilities of a family but I do get out as much as possible. I have been many places in the USA. It can be exciting to adventure around the country but it can also be lonely. I have been a member of the Church of Jeusus Christ of Latter Day Saint my entire life. Membership has helped me in good times and bad. I know that any where I go, I will have friends that will understand and be there for me. It feels good to have a church family any where I go. I have a wonderful wife, three kids and a dog. Life is not easy but it is fulfilling when you know your heavenly father wants the best for you, your wife and your children. That knowledge keeps me going each day.

Why I am a Mormon

At a young age I had to find out if my membership in the church was important to me. Latter Day Saints have standards. We follow a lifestyle that excludes coffee, tea and tobacco. We do not drink beer, wine or anything containing alcohol. We do not party in hard ways or have sexual relations before we are married but we do enjoy life to the fullest. Many of our non member friends encourage us to go against our beliefs. I have tested my beliefs and know that they lead to true happiness. I have discovered that I can feel the love of my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ, in a more clear way when I do not have stimulants or depressants in my body. It helps me keep the commandments of the church better when I can trust real feelings that I know I just received from from he Holy Ghost. I am pleased when I know the feelings I receive from God are not part of a chemical induced reaction in my body. When I follow the things I feel are coming from God, I seem to have great success in my life. I love God and know the things I have been taught are true.

How I live my faith

I have been an active member of the community as a result of my church membership. I have helped those who need food, clothes and shelter through service. I have joined the Rotary Service Club and the Boy Scouts of America to help me get into more places where I can help others. I know that when I have fallen on hard times, people have been there for me. The church has always been there when family was not close by. It is a comfort to be part of a great society of helpers. The world needs more people doing service for free. I volunteered two years of my life to be a church missionary when I was 19 years old. I learned the value of service those two years and never forgot it. I saw lives change and I changed with each opportunity to give. I love Jesus Christ and want to be like him. He was the greatest example of one who gave all he had to help all of us. Please take the time to learn about Jesus Christ from reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon and then follow his example. I know his teachings lead the way to happiness.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

As a church missionary for two years I wanted to share my understanding of the love Jesus Christ had for me. When I was approached by others wanting to know about the Savior, I would stop what I was doing and share my beliefs immediately; It was my first priority. Please approach missionaries when you see them. They want to be your friend. Show more Show less
