Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a wife, a teacher, and an avid traveler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Louisiana and Florida until moving to Arizona to attend college. After graduation I became an elementary school teacher. My passion is gifted education. I have been married for just over a year and look forward to many more with my amazing husband. Traveling is a must for me much like breathing. If I do not have at least one trip in the works at all times, something is wrong. I have been into scrapbooking for many years and recently discovered the fun in making homemade cards. Yea, one more hobby that will take my hard earned money! Most evenings I can be found buried in a good book and have been known to read two or three at the same time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by a mother who comes from pioneer heritage and a father who joined the church while serving in the military and is the only member in his family. Both of my parents set an amazing example to me of what it means to be a Mormon. I learned to love service and the definition of being a good friend from my mother. She is quick to find whys to reach out to others and makes them feel loved. From my father, I learned about studying the scriptures and seeking to know more. Both of my parents taught me the importance of attending the temple and set an example to me every time they made the long trips to enter those sacred walls. When I moved away from home at eighteen years of age I did not even think twice about going to church. I jumped right in and became an active member of every ward that I attended. I'm a Mormon because I cannot imagine my life without the gospel. I need to feel the love of my Savior. I need the blessings and protection that come from living a worthy life. I need to feel the spirit that dwells within the walls of the temple. I need to be sealed to my husband for time and all eternity. There is no other option for me.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the Young Women's president in my ward. I am responsible for the spiritual welfare of the youth ages 12-18. We plan activities for our Wednesday night gatherings and enjoy being together whenever possible. I am also a visiting teacher. I have developed wonderful friendships with not only my companion, but also the sisters who we visit each month. Another way that I live my faith is within the community. I try to set an example for my students, their parents, and my co-workers. Questions that are asked regarding what I believe are not only answered, but are encouraged.
