Hi I'm Megan

Daytime insurance guru. Nighttime student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was adopted from South Korea when I was two years old. I've worked in insurance for nearly eight years and I go to school full time at night where I'm studying Organizational Management. I am also a Red Cross volunteer. I enjoy making cupcakes, watching movies, reading, playing indoor soccer, and playing the piano. I love to have fun with my roommates, my friends, my family, and especially spoiling my 2 year old nephew!

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was twenty years old. I was struggling with making big decisions such as education, careers, friends, boyfriends, etc., and felt like there was a spiritual void in my life. I met two missionaries on the street in front of my apartment and accepted their challenge to pray to know if the gospel was true. One evening, I got down on my knees and asked God if the gospel was true, if this was truly His church. The answer was immediate and felt like a burning fire that started in my chest and flowed out through my hands and feet. I knew instantly that this was the answer to my prayer. I was baptized six weeks later. In that moment, I knew that the gospel in its entirety was true and have enjoyed learning and growing within it every day since.

How I live my faith

Living my faith isn't some grand gesture or big show. It's the little things that I do every day to feel the spirit. I pray to my Heavenly Father, which is how I communicate to Him my feelings of gratitude, my pleas for help, and seek guidance. I read my scriptures, including the Bible, to learn more about my Savior Jesus Christ. I learn from His words and from His example. I go to church on Sundays and take the sacrament which reminds of the Savior's atonement, in which he took on all of my sins, pains, sufferings, and sorrows so that I can have the opportunity to return to my Heavenly Father. I serve whenever and however I can. Sometimes I do this through church activities and sometimes I do this on my own. Anytime I am helping someone else, I am thinking less about myself and living a more Christlike life. In church, I am the secretary for our women's organization. I help keep things organized and running smoothly. It gives me the opportunity to serve many people at one time and to get to know everyone indivually at the same time. Occaisionally, I get to use some of my skills to serve. I am a musician and often find opportunities to sing or play the piano at church or for other events. I love singing in the choirs that are organized for special occaisions. I have even had the opportunity to teach some fun dance clases for the youth.
