Hi I'm Kayleen

I'm married to a wonderful man, I love being a mother, I live in the country and I'm proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I'm totally in love with my husband and my five young children. They mean the world to me and I've been very happily married for nine years. The best decision I ever made was marrying my husband. He is honestly, the best person I know and I wish I was more like him, he is that good. My four boys are fun-loving and very energetic, and my daughter is incredibly sweet. I was born in New Zealand but was raised in Australia from the age of ten. I love living in the country, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and I don't see myself moving 'ever'! I love being a 'stay at home' mother and the best part of my day is playing with my children, being the lucky recipient of cuddles from my 2 year old and seeing my husband walk through the door at the end of his work day. Having five young children, my house is always loud and full of energy, and it gets even louder when my husband and I watch the football. I love the outdoors and I enjoy hiking, Saturday family outings, watching rugby league with my husband, and spending time with my extended family. One of my favourite quotes is "No success in life can compensate for failure in the home". My first priority in life has always been my faith and my family. I love being a Mormon because it has given me a true perspective on what life is really about, and having that perspective has definitely helped my family be better and happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a close-knit family where I had parents who taught me and my two brothers to have a belief in God. I was baptised at the age of 8 and I remember it being one of the most special days of my life. I remember there was a feeling of warmth and love at my baptism, and I remember feeling that my Heavenly Father loved me and was pleased with me. I knew then as an 8 year old girl that God lives and that He loves me. When I was 13 years old I decided to find out for myself if the teachings of the Mormon church were true. So every day for what seemed like two weeks I prayed to God for an answer. The answer finally came when I received an undeniable, amazing and powerful impression letting me know that it was true. I don't believe I made myself have those feelings, but that it was most certainly Heavenly Father answering my prayer. From that experience, I learnt that God is mindful of me and that He will always answer my prayers. I learnt for myself that the Book of Mormon is true and that we have living prophets on the earth today. I remember feeling so excited at having this spiritual experience that the first thing I did was tell my mother about it. Why am I a Mormon? I am a Mormon because I know it's true. I know that God lives and that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that true happiness comes from following the teachings of Jesus Christ. The more I learn about the Saviour, the more I am inspired to live a life of joy and sacrifice, as He did. And that's why motherhood is such a blessing to me because it's all about joy and sacrifice. Having the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life makes me feel proud about being a wife and a mother and that there is joy to be had in raising children who know who they really are. The gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy and I'm proud to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to have a good relationship with God, my family and others. I do this by praying and reading my scriptures, and I look for ways to serve others. My example is the ultimate teaching tool when it comes to my children and so I live my faith by trying to be the best mother I possibly can to my children. The great thing is, with all my imperfections I know that Heavenly Father is always there for me to help me improve as a mother. My husband and I like to teach our children the gospel of Jesus Christ on Monday nights on what is called "Family Home Evenings". My children particularly love to have fun and play games on these Monday nights. We love it because it's a great family night to learn, love and laugh together. As a family we attend church every Sunday and we keep the sabbath day holy. Every month, I like to visit three women in their homes to see how they are going with their families and to find out if they need assistance with anything such as cooking a meal for them or babysitting. On some Saturdays, my family (particularly, my husband) get involved with service projects to help other people such as mowing lawns, cleaning yards and houses, chopping firewood, doing farmwork, or helping someone move. I've found that living my faith is very simple and alot of fun because it's all about helping families have fun and be truly happy. I know I have found true happiness in following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that He cares about me and my family and I'm so thankful to Him and what He did for me that I have the opportunity to be with my family forever, and that makes me extremely happy.
