Hi I'm Jim

I'm a computer programmer, hopefully a good husband and father, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a transplanted 'midwesterner' to the west, like many others here in Colorado. The mountains and the weather are what brought me here, and are fun to enjoy with my family. We enjoy bike rides, skiing (me), snowboarding (son), and enjoying family time together. I especially enjoy vacations when we are able to go, most of those are visiting family who live out of town. I am a computer programmer in the travel industry, and have been since graduating from college. Through my job, I have worked with great people, met great people, and continue to work with great people today. Other things I enjoy are music, college football, and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church, something I consider a great blessing. I don't know where I would be without it, certainly not as peaceful and happy as I am today. That does not mean I never had a choice in what would be part of or most important in my life. I had an opportunity to choose, and this is where I want to be. This church and its teachings, through scriptures and prophets, have guided me through some difficult times in life. These are the times I look back on with great appreciation to the Lord for helping me and listenting to and answering my prayers. I am very thankful for all He has done for me. I have never doubted the existence of God. While I have not always followed his commandments exactly, I have had too many experiences feeling His Spirit to ever deny He does not exist and that He lives. I have learned He wants the best for me, He has a plan for me, along with my faults, weaknesses, strengths, and good and bad desires. I am amazed that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, would condescend to suffer for me. He helps me, teaches me, and leads me, if I follow Him. He suffered every pain and heartache this world has to offer. Because He did this, I have faith that when I need help He knows what I am going through. I know He is able to help me become a better person, when I work with Him. I have also learned this to be true for everyone who chooses to follow Him. How I wish we could see and understand now how much He wants to help us, and how much He can be and is involved in our lives. I love my family. I love the family I grew up in, and the family I am now the husband and father to. These relationships I know can be forever if we want them to be. I also know this life is not the end, but a place along the path God wants us to be for now. How could I ever move beyond this life and not want my family to be with me? I can be through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Through church activity, I have had many experiences serving others. From Boy Scouts and Eagle Projects, to family and neighbor service, and just being a friend, this Church provides many opportunities to be involved. Helping someone do something they really couldn't do themselves brings a great feeling. Helping our community through supporting events, voting, and hopefully being a good neighbor is also important to me. I also believe the Gospel needs to be lived through a personal relationship with God. As we get to know Him a little better, we better understand how He wants us to live our lives. He can help us know what we need to do for ourselves, and what to do when others need us.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

In addition to many other things, Mormons believe God has emotions, not unlike we have. He has conquered the bad emotions, and the good emotions He can feel with so much more power than we can. His joy is full when we realize and live to our potential as His children. His capacity to love and help us is also beyond our comprehension, as well as His sorrow when we make bad choices. He would do all He can do to help us, and indeed He has, and still does. God is also so very, very good. He is good always in all good things, and in Him is truth and strength and joy. He is the greatest father, leader, and teacher in the universe. The amazing thing is, that even after all of this, He can and does minister to everyone individually. How He does this I don't really understand, but I know He does. Show more Show less
