Hi I'm Mary

I'm a mother, a wife, and a grandmother. I have been a Parole Officer and am now a Child Abuse Investigator. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married (second time around) for the last 11 years. I have survived domestic violence and a violent crime. I have overcome many obstacles in my life but look at each obstacle as being an experience that has taught me new lessons that have helped me to help others. I have a wonderful adult son and the most fantastic 2 year old grandson. I work as a Child Abuse Investigator supervisor for the State, and work from home. I love to do genealogy, I love to remodel rooms in our home. I love to grow flowers and play with my St. Bernard dog. I will drop everything to help a friend or a stranger and love to bake cookies and fudge. I joined the LDS church in 1991, fell away in 1993 due to a nasty divorce, but came back with great joy in 1995. Love to go to the Temple, and love to travel the country to visit the new Temples. But most of all, I love my family and I love my Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church has changed my life. I used to just "exist". I had no path for life, I just lived day by day. Having been raised in a very stauch Catholic family, I knew of God, but I didn't know God. I knew that Jesus died for our sins, but never really knew what that meant. I never learned to pray to God and never had a real relationship with Him. When I was investigating the Church, I had a vision that Father Abraham came to me and confirmed that what I was hearing was true. I've had the Holy Spirit speak to me, both in a still small voice as well as in a loud shout (sometimes I need a loud shout to get my attention) to point me in the right direction and give me the words and actions that I should use/take to be of help to others. I have found great internal peace when I pray to my Heavenly Father and have had Him answer more than my share of requests. I know that the LDS church is the Church of Jesus Christ and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the Church, though I have always liked to work "behind the scenes". I work in the genealogy "lab" where I help others find their ancestors, so they can know where they came from. I feel the blessings of Elijiah at every turn. I work with new converts to help them learn the vocabulary of the Church as it differs from other Christian religions, so they feel comfortable. I love to bake and cook for those in need, to teach lessons on the Temple, family history and the power of the eternal family. I love to sing and have been in the choirs in every ward I have belonged to.
