Hi I'm Holly Perkins!

I am a wife, a mother of three great kids, an avid runner, a novice gardener, an ocean lover and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California. I love the ocean. I have 3 sisters and 4 brothers. I love my big family!!! I graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Secondary Education. I love to teach. I love to see people learn new ideas and watch it change their lives. I have been married to the same wonderful man for a little over 20 years. We have 3 beautiful children together. I am a Sr. Workforce Planning Analyst for a large Contact Center in AZ. I am a very happy wife and mother. We have had our trials and life has not been easy. But everday I am reminded of the many blessings the Lord has given me in my life. I love my family, being a sister, a daughter and a friend. I like to run, watch old black and white movies, collect antique dishes, go on road trips, watch football, make desserts, listen to beautiful music, put my feet in the sand at the beach and feel the sun on my face.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. My parents were always great examples of people who love Christ and serve others. They taught me strong moral values that have stayed with me my whole life. When I was sixteen, I had the opportunity to participate in the Oakland Temple Pageant. One night during a rehearsal, one of the actors shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was the most powerful thing I had ever heard. I went home that night wondering if I really had a testimony of my own. I knew then I had to find out for myself. I began reading the Book of Mormon and praying for an answer. Several weeks went by, without any sort of answer. The day of the last Pageant performance, I was in my room when I had the thought to pray. I ignored it and said I would pray tonight before going to bed. The thought kept coming back and at times felt like someone was standing right next to me speaking the words. I finally stopped and knelt. As soon as I began to pray and ask about the Book of Mormon, I felt the warmest almost burning feeling throughout my whole body. I felt as though my spirit would burst with excitement. Then the thought came to my mind, this book is true. I have felt the spirit many times since that experience. He testifies to me, comforts me and confirms truth. I'm a Mormon because I know this is Jesus Christ's church. I know God lives; that he loves me. I know I am His child. I know that Jesus is my Savior and He has made it possible for all to live again! I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon and restored this church to the earth. I know the scriptures are true and as I read them I gain truth and knowledge that blesses my life. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today, just as in Christ's time. There are so many more reasons why I am a Mormon but this is my testimony that I have received through the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I enjoy going to church each and every Sunday. Over the years, I have had many different opportunites to serve. Right now I work with our 18 month old to 3 year old children. What a challenge and blessing this has been in my life. I have been able to teach them that they are children of a loving Heavenly Father who knows and loves them. I have seen their love of life grow and their knowledge of truth grow as well. I know that when I serve others, I also serve Jesus Christ. He is my example and I try each day to become more like him. He is always there for me and I would be nothing without him.
