Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon. I'm from Ogden, Utah. I was a missionary in Munich Germany and Austria. I'm going to be a physical therapist.

About Me

I have often been referred to as a "gentle giant." Although it was often used in a deragatory way, I have also been fond of the reference "giant teddy bear." Regardless of my size, I've always tried to be a friendly and helpful person. I am a happily married man. My wife and I were married in 2010 and we've been living a dream ever since. I am a man of many interests and passions. I love music (I play the string bass, the drums, a little piano, and I sing), art, language (I speak German), poetry, movies, and helping people. I served as a missionary in the Germany Munich/Austria mission, and I loved every second of it. I learned how to love people I didn't know and how to reach out to people. I am currently a University student studying to become a physical therapist. I work as a physical therapy assistant at a specialist clinic.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a number of reasons. The first and perhaps the most obvious is that I was raised as one. I come from a strong LDS family that taught me the importance of faith in God and Jesus Christ and that God loves me because I am His son. And so, as a child, knowing that my loving parents would never lie or manipulate me, I always participated and knew that even if I didn't know for certain that this was the "one true church," that I would come to know it for myself eventually. Which is the second (and in my mind the most important) reason I'm a Mormon: Because I know for myself without any doubt that this is the true church. Many experiences throughout my life, including some of the hardest experiences, have brought me to the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy. I have felt the incredible power of His Spirit in my life in more ways than I could describe. There have been times when I've been struck to the deepest part of my soul with God's power and love. There have been times when I've felt the warmth of His influence wash over me in times of despair. There have been times when I have heard and felt His voice in my heart and mind, telling me that everything's going to be alright. I'm a Mormon because I know it's the truth. I know that the Book of Mormon is not some replacement for the Bible, it's a companion for it, translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. I'm a Mormon because the knowledge, power, and comfort I have recieved as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is beyond anything the world could ever even hope to offer. I'm a Mormon because as such, I know that I can be with my family forever. I can be with my wife for all eternity. And we can live with Heavenly Father and His Son again. I'm a Mormon because the Savior has promised "all that the Father hath" to those who follow His commandments. I'm a Mormon because of what it means to be one.

How I live my faith

Accepting the faith and living the faith are two different concepts. I am just a man, with my own set of weaknesses. But I try to live my faith as best as I possibly can. I pray every day, and ask Heavenly Father for direction, guidance, and protection. I read the scriptures (the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the other standard works of the church) to know the Lord's will and remember His commandments. I try to share the knowledge I have with those who are ready to recieve it. I fulfil my responsibility to teach the other members of the church what I can about the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to remember that every single person on this earth is a beloved child of our Father in Heaven, who wants them to return to Him.
