Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm from the LDS capital of the world and I know how to have fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi. I'm Alyssa. My nick names are lyss-bones, lyss-berry, a-dog, sleesu, and lys. I am a graphic designer and aspire to make the world more beautiful. I'm obsessed with reading blogs and I can't wait to be a Mormon mommy blogger so I can show off all of my cute kids and designs. I am serving a mission in Alaska right now and it is the best decision I've ever made in my life. I just ate my first moose, it was delicious. I enjoy riding bikes late in summer evenings, listening to live music on front porches, running for miles in the rain, traveling to new places, and going into sugar comas with my sisters sugar cookies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church and am very grateful to my parents for dragging me out of bed every Sunday. My true conversion wasn't until after I sincerely asked God if this was the true church, if Joseph Smith was a prophet, if He loved me, if Jesus Christ was my Savior and if the Book of Mormon was true. It took a lot of work, but now I know it's true with all my heart and I know it's only through the power of the Holy Ghost that I know it! It makes me cry happy tears. It's the best feeling in the world, better than a cup of hot chocolate warmly running down your throat on a frigid winter's day wrapped in the softest blanket just removed from the dryer. I hope someday you will feel that too, and keep it with you always. I know this is the only true church of Jesus Christ on the earth today, restored by God through the prophet Joseph Smith, and we can only return to live with our Heavenly Father by having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission right now in Alaska. I go to church and read the Book of Mormon everyday for 30 minutes or more, I can't get enough of it! I visit people all day (knocking on doors etc.) and bring them the wonderful happy important message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'll be here for 18 months and then go back home and become a normal person again, but I will continue to keep the Lord's commandments and serve others because the Gospel makes me so happy and everyone deserves to hear about it.
