Hi I'm Robby

I'm a structural engineer. I love Venezuela. I love sports. I'm a husband and father of 3 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a structural engineer and I love solving math and science problems. I like building things and fixing things around the house and in the yard. I am a husband and I like to go on dates with my wife. I am a father of three towhead kids. I enjoy playing with my kids when I get home from work and on weekends. I like to help my kids with their homework and teach them new things. I love learning and traveling. I love music and I try to play musical instruments, but I need practice singing. I love Venezuela and I speak Spanish. I have run a marathon. I like to skateboard. I play competitive soccer. I grew up surfing and I love the ocean. I like triathlons. I snowboard and ski. I am teaching my kids how to ski and play soccer.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a small boy, I remember my primary teacher sharing her feelings about the Book of Mormon with my primary class. I felt something that day, a warm comfortable feeling that motivated me to go home and find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was true. I wanted to feel that warm feeling again and I thought if I read the Book of Mormon I might feel it. Whenever I read the Book of Mormon that warm feeling returns and assures me that what I am reading is from God. The Book of Mormon is a true book to me because its teachings motivate me to be a better person, to do good things, and to have hope and faith in Jesus Christ. Whenever I am trying to live by the teachings of the prophets of God, either past or present, I am happier and filled with hope. On the contrary, whenever I have let my natural tendencies rule my decisions, I have felt despair and emptiness inside. After realizing my mistakes and turning to God, I have felt the sweet arms of forgiveness. To me it is a miracle that after making mistakes and feeling completely helpless I can feel a newness of life and a brightness of hope. I know that God lives and that He loves me. To me this life is a search for truth and happiness. I have found truth’s in this church that have helped me to become a better person and to find more happiness. I really love knowing that I am a child of God and that I can return to live with Him if I believe in and follow Jesus Christ. The whole concept that there is a life after this one really intrigues me and helps me to live with better purpose and perspective now. And I love the promise that if I choose to follow our Savior, I will be able to live with my family for eternity after this life.

How I live my faith

Currently I am priveleged to work with the young men. Each Sunday I prepare a lesson on gospel principles that will help them develop good morals and ethics, respect for women, and to become honorable men in their families and community. I help them plan activities that will help grow their character and give them experiences to prepare them to provide for their own families someday. I also help them fulfill and realize their church duties and responsibilities of preparing the Sacrament for our weekly Sunday services. I find great joy and satisfaction in serving others and helping them live the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a professional engineer I participated with a group to voluntarily design a system to provide clean water for a community in Mexico and provide composting latrines to a community in El Salvador.
