Jake: Mormon.

Hi I'm Jake

About Me

I grew up in Yakima and have been there all my life. I have a great family! I love going fishing with my Dad and hunting when I get a chance to. I love hiking as well. I am a big sports enthusiast. I could watch sports or play sports all day any day! My dad taught me how to work hard and never give up and I am super grateful for. I was studying Business Management in college but bigger and better things have called me away! I am now serving a full time mission in Spokane Washington!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church. I grew up in a very non-religious home and was very unfamiliar with any type of religion. I had only been to church a couple times in my life and it was mostly just to be with some friends. I had always believed that there was a God but that was as far as it went. After I graduated High School I was introduced to the Church by a friend. I started to look into the church and read the Book of Mormon. When I was reading it I felt as though it was easy to understand for someone who had zero religious background. A lot of things I was reading made a lot of sense. I then began to meet with the missionaries! I started to meet with them and continue to learn more and more about the gospel. Everything they taught seemed to make so much sense. I knew that this was from God. I knew that this was the path that my Heavenly Father wanted for me. I was baptized on April 18, 2009. The past two years have been the best of my life. I have learned so much and have seen a huge turn around in my life. The direction that I see in my life now is amazing and unquestionable. The gospel truly has blessed my life. Now, I have the opportunity to bring that joy and direction to others. I am currently serving a mission in Spokane, Wa. I am so grateful for this opportunity. The reason why I decided to serve a mission is because I know how much it has blessed my life and everyone should know about this gospel and the happiness it brings. Thats why I am a Mormon!

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

The Book of Mormon is scripture. It is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is comparable to the Bible and they support each other. The Book of Mormon is a record of prophets here in the America's. It testifies of Christ and is all about His teachings and how we can come closer to Him, and how we can return to live with Him again. The Book of Mormon is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. By reading it and studying it and praying about it I have come closer to God. I know that it is God's word. He revealed this volume of scripture because we needed it. I love reading from the Book of Mormon. I know that it has blessed my life and I have seen so much direction in my life as I pay attention to the teachings in it. It can bring anyone closer to God and to a knowledge of His plan and His will. In the words of the Prophet Thomas S. Monson....."If you haven't read the Book of Mormon....READ IT!!!"

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

I share it because it is so important to me! I know the blessings that I have seen in my life because of a knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for us. I think it would be selfish of me not to share this with others. I know the joy and direction I have seen in my life because of it and everyone should have the opportunity to see that in their own lives! There are so many ways to share the gospel. I am convinced that any conversation can be related to the gospel! We also have full-time missionaries in the Church that love to teach people! There are so many opportunities to share what we know with others!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a 2-year mission in Spokane, Wa. I love every minute of it. I have the privilege of serving people every day. Having the opportunity to help people learn of the plan that our Heavenly Father has for us is by far the greatest experience I have ever had in my life. I love being on a mission! It is the greatest thing in the world! The best part of it is I know the great blessings and direction I have seen in my life, and bringing that to others is the incredible. I love that we can all know for ourselves. We can exercise our faith and ask God if Christ's church has been restored through a living day prophet. We have all the tools that we need to know if the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. We have the Book of Mormon! It invites us to read it and ponder in our hearts the message it contains, and to pray about it! How cool is that! Serving the Lord.....There just isnt anything better..... JUST DO IT!
