Hi I'm Ian
I'm a Mormon. I grew up in a small neighborhood near the Seattle Temple called Eastgate. I served a mission in Peoria, Illinois.
Some of my favorite activities include airsoft, anime, and games. I truly enjoy working with computers, and reading about the latest scientific theories. I spend a lot of time on the website of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratories looking at pictures of the stars and galaxies across the universe. I always wonder how anyone could look at the beauty of those images and think that it all just sprang into existence by accident, or that it has no eventual purpose. I hope someday to be a game designer myself, and if I could, also own a studio of my own.
Why I am a Mormon
Although I grew up a member of the church, there came a time in my life when I wanted to determine for myself what was true. It seemed like if there was truth to be had, there had to be a way to attain it. In this modern day and age with an internet filled with fabrications and hoaxes, it sounded like a daunting task. I remembered that Joseph Smith had a similar experience when he was a boy, and knowing that he received his answer directly from the lord, I decided to pursue the same method. I also decided to apply the scientific method, and investigate several religions to get several results and compare. I started to get discouraged after a large number of tries, but saving the church I grew up in for last, I put the book of mormon in front of me and said one last prayer. I may not have received a vision, but the answer came. I knew it, I felt it, and it dwarfed the other results completely. Since then, after having served a mission, my testimony has continued to grow, stronger and stronger. There is no longer any doubt in my mind to the validity of this church. My curiosity about the world drives me to question how every new thing I learn fits into the gospel that I know is true. I know that there is an answer for every question, the only thing that is lacking in this world is the determination to find them all. But if you find yourself wondering where the surest source of truth is, I'll be the first person to suggest you pray about it.
How I live my faith
I do my best to be an example to my friends and family. I make sure to always explain to people with a smile that I do not drink or smoke, because I am a mormon. I like to make the opportunity to clear up some of the misconceptions people may have about the Word of Wisdom.
