Hi I'm Vickie

I'm a stay at home mom. I raise kids for a living. I play volleyball and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, my name is Vickie and I am a stay at home mom. I've had a love for children from a very young age and always knew that someday I'd be a mom. I love being active and doing outdoor activities. I love camping, riding bikes, playing volleyball, reading, singing, and going to plays. I am the mother of 4 children. I love my family. I've been married for 24 years and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of my life. I was baptized when I was just 8 years old but I have had to come to know that the church is true from my own experiences and in my own time. I have learned that through living the gospel standards and living by its principles and teachings we will be happy. In the gospel of Jesus Christ families are very important. We learn that God has a plan for each of us. I am so happy to know that we can live together in heaven after this earthly life ends. This is accomplished through the sealing power administered in our Temples. When I was married, I was married for "time and all eternity". This gives me great strength and comfort. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives my life purpose, meaning and direction. The spirit taught me at a young age that the things I was learning and experiencing in the Mormon church were true. Otherwise, why would a young boy be so diligent in professing that he'd seen a vision and be persecuted for it but never deny it unless it was true and it really happened? Joseph Smith was not an educated man but he was humble and he was searching for the truth. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appearing to him in a grove of trees to bring their gospel to earth again is very profound to me. Joseph Smith is not the founder of our church, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are. He was the instrument in their hands and he received much persecution even unto death but never denied the things which he was allowed to experience. This took great faith. Also, I am a Mormon because of The Book of Mormon which was translated from ancient writings on Gold plates. Joseph Smith was not the author of this book but the translator. It is a true book and it testifies of Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost has witnessed this to me, it is true. Because of this I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, otherwise known as the "Mormons".

How I live my faith

I live my faith by my service to others. I also teach my family about Jesus Christ and his life and ministry. By following his example we can increase our faith in him. Christ was always in the service of his fellowman. One of the ways I serve is by the calling which I've been given in our church. I am a cub scout leader. Every week we have planned activities with a group of 9 year old boys from 3 of our separate wards. We teach them the values of scouting as well as the values and teachings of the gospel. Another way that I serve is through visiting teaching. I have an assigned route of sisters to whom I am responsible for visiting or contacting on a monthly basis. I have tried to help them and serve them to the best of my ability. But not only that I have become their friends. I enjoy serving in the church as well as volunteering at my children's schools whenever I get the chance.I really try to be a good example to those around me. This is how I am living my Faith everywhere I go.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Just by looking out my window I know there is a God. Everything I see has been created by the hand of God. Our lives themselves are evidence that there is a God. The miracle of life itself. There are so many things that may be explained by science but I know that there is a Supreme Creator and that he has declared these things in the Holy scriptures which we can study and know for ourselves.
