Hi I'm Cami

I'm a contemporary dancer and teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied dance education in college and love performing and teaching contemporary dance. I also love to bake (especially dessert!), attempt sewing projects, and watch movies with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but I was concerned, even at a young age, that I know for myself whether or not the church was true. My answer wasn't big or immediate, but I learned to recognize the way I felt whenever I prayed, studied the scriptures, or attended church. It was a feeling of happiness and contentment. The day after I was baptized, I remember that I couldn't stop smiling. I have prayed many times since then for a confirmation that the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and other principles taught by the LDS church are true and whenever I ask, that happy feeling returns. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

How I live my faith

I try to be "an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity" by the way I dress, talk and treat others (2 Timothy 4:12). Living my faith isn't just a Sunday thing, but something I try to do at home, at work, and with family and friends. I also have a really cool opportunity to teach a religion class to all the high school aged Momon youth in my area. We meet a 6am every school day to learn about the scriptures (this year we're studying the Old Testament) and find ways that they apply to our lives. I love learning with them every morning and feel motivated by their determination to live up to high standards of behavior and morality in a world full of so many temptations.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes! Scripture is the word of God to His people. We believe that the Bible is an account of God's dealings with HIs children long ago. We love and learn the stories and principles contained in the Bible. I personally love studying the Bible because I find that our world is not so different from the world at the time of Noah or Moses or Jonah or Christ. Learning how they chose to accept or not accept the Savior and what the consequences were helps guide my decisions in today's society. Show more Show less
