Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming where the wind blows non-stop. I'm an athlete and I'm a mormon

About Me

I am a college student striving to figure things out. I love sports; football and baseball are my favorites. In Highschool I played football, wrestling, and during the summer I played baseball. I was on the varsity team for all these sports and did really well. Right now I am not playing any sport because I had to make some decisions on what i wanted to do with my life. It was either work really hard and make it pro or stop and do what Heavenly Father wants. Mostly all the sports today have you play on sunday and require a lot of time. I want to find a wife and create my family, but I didn't want a job or career that would take me away from my family very much. Well any sport was going to do exactly that and it would make any situation with the family difficult. So I have decided to put sports off as a career and now is just a time to relief stress and have fun. I come from a family of six children and I am the last one. There is a big age gap between me and my siblings and so growing up it felt like I was the only child and i would see my brothers and sisters once a year. Because of the distance my family relationships were not strong and so I didn't value the importance of the family for a very long time. Until I understood more of the family value in the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been born and raised in the church. Usually when members say that they were born and raised in the church they say" I didn't know for myself until I prayed about it" The usual typical answer. Well it's no different for me and wont be different for you either. You have to pray about it to know for yourself. Sounds to me like the straight and narrow path that Christ taught. Each of us doing the same thing to get onto the same path. We will recognize our answers differently but we will get the same answer. Why do I keep with this faith? Its because no one else has the knowledge that we have. Sure every religion is going to have things that it cannot explain because God hasn't revealed it yet to his servants the prophets. The LDS church explains things more clearly that make sense more than any other religion. Is it challenging to be LDS? absolutely, but the happiness, joy and satisfaction that comes with following the standards as best as i can helps me to press on and battle.

How I live my faith

A full time student that struggles with reading Gods words, praying everyday, not lying, not lusting. Every time that I think of how my life would be if i wasn't living an LDS life I think that it would be fun, more risk taking, and not worrying what the consequence would be. But every time that i end up slipping into that road its not fun, I worried even more about the consequences which put even more weight on myself and its just not pleasing . Following all of the commandments is hard but made easy through Christ, If we dont turn to him by humbling our selves and repenting and dont do things His way then you are doing it by yourself and that weight will be there, but if you do what Christ asks then the weight is lifted off and for me when that happens i feel like i do not worry about half the things I normally would. Doing what God want you to do you are actually taking risks everyday by being different than everyone else. For Christ church i am a home teacher. Its where you go and visit other members of the church and serve them anyway that you can. I have also served a mission for 2 years in Jamaica. I love sports and at the moment i am helping to coach 11-13 year old football team. I truly do struggle everyday at keeping the commandments, but learning what Christ would want me to truly do through his servants the prophets helps me to know what I need to do in this day and age.
