Hi I'm Doug Bowen

I grew up in Seattle Washington. I'm a Mormon. Now living in East Wenatchee after a few years living in Yakima and Spokane.

About Me

I love to read, fish and grow tomatoes. I am married , and we have two of our 4 childen still living in the Wenatchee area. That means we get to stay young and play with the adorable cutist ever G kids. My wife and I celebrated 50 years of mariage last year and so this year that must mean 51 years. When we were first married and still just kids ourselves I used to tease her on our anniversary and say O.K. lets try for another year. well she always wanted more than a one year agreement so we now have an agreement to try forever. If I can find it I will enclose a picture of me and a fish that used to love the Columbia river.

Why I am a Mormon

While attending the U. of W. I met a young women that literally knocked me off my feet. We dated for 3months and then decided to get married. She and I had been attending the Green Lake Methodist church. We had also made a pact that she would look into my church and I would look into hers. Well, we were married in the methodist church that I had been attending and the next month I kept my promise to look into her church. She was a morman and I knew nothing about her church. We talked for a week or so then asked me if I would like to have a couple of missionaries stop by and explain the church to me better than she could. I said sure. Two days later two young Elders from the Church of Jesus Christ knocked on our door. I had many questions and they came by several times the first week to enlighten my mind. I can still remember the warm feeling that I felt in my heart when I prayed to know if it was really possible that Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father (God), had appeared to a young boy only 14 years old and not educated. It seemed a stretch in my own mind, so that is why I prayed. Like I said what a powerful feeling came over me, and this feeling has never left me even though this all occured 51 years ago just last month. Over the years my wife and I have had the opportunity to be Sealed in a Temple of God for this life and if we are worthy and keeping God's commandments, for all time and thru out the eternities with our children and Grand children. Also our Parents.

How I live my faith

I have worked most of the time in the Restaurant business. This occupation is the reason my family moved all over the state of Washington. Our family has participated in several community organizations such as Music Theatre. My wife and I at the present time like to teach English to members of our community that would like to learn basic communication skills. This program is called Daily Dose. We garden and spend as much time with our Grand kids as we can. We love the Wenatchee area with the river , to fish in of course, the Mountains , to ski on of course, and the traffic, which never has congestion. Though retired and living in a great area, the Church of Jesus Christ is one of our most prized possesions.
