Hi I'm Nicolas

I am a tiny grain of sand from an Eternal Ocean known as the human race. Born in the US of Mexican parents. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the "barrio" in El Paso, Texas, where I loved playing marbles, tops, and baseball as a kid. I was one of seven children (six boys and one girl) who was the first to graduate from college with a BA in English. I served a mission for the LDS church in Idaho. I married a wonderful and beautiful woman and we have six children, five of which are married. Three graduated from college and the others are currently attending. I have worked in high-tech sales for over 25 years and have traveled to over 25 countries for business. I speak fluent Spanish, English and some Portuguese. I love working and creating things with my hands. I love inventing things and am always thinking of how I can improve something or make something to better this world. I am a writer of both fiction and non-fiction books. I love beautiful things made out of solid wood and metals. I love colorful, bright flowers, powerful thunderstorms, and all types of animals. I have been a member of the LDS church for over 40 years and the Mormon life style has made all the positive difference in my and my family's life. I love my parents, my brothers and sister, my great wife and our children. I love God and His purposes. He is great and life is beautiful!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the principles and teachings of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true, which help me be a better person daily. I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of mankind, not because I have used my 5 senses (the common way to learn and know things on earth), sight, taste, hearing, touch or smell to know this, but because I have received direct revelation from a loving God, answering my petitions through the power of the Holy Ghost. He has let me know these things are true. I have felt the love and mercy of God in my life many times and have experienced the redeeming power of the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ cleansing me from sin time and time again! I also know that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God in these latter days. He restored many precious truths and the priesthood, to help bring the world out of spiritual darkness. The organization he restored a midst the thousands of churches that exist in the world, is the authorized church of Jesus Christ in these last days. It is headed by Christ through His special, holy men - His prophets. These are not ordinary men, nor are they perfect men. They are consecrated men who have been called by God (not themselves) to direct the affairs of His church on earth. I also know that many writings (scriptures), including the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrince and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and any other scripture deemed important by God, are inspired records written by prophets who were called by God as His servants, to testify that God indeed does live and that He sent His Son to be the Messiah and Savior of the world. Through God's plan, which Jesus Christ brought into the world for us, all of mankind - none excluded, can return to the presence of God, through obedience and adherence to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that God lives and loves every single one of His children. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love the scripture by James in the new Testament that says, "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." (James 1:22) I believe that we demonstrate our faith in God by actions, not just by saying that we believe in Him. The best way for me to show that I want to do what He asks of me is by literally working at keeping the commandments; by being Christ-like and charitable and by loving one another. Being an example is a way I demonstrate my faith. I am an imperfect man with weaknesses and sin, but who also understands the cleansing power of the blood and atonement of Jesus Christ. I recognize that I am nothing without God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. I try to serve them by serving my fellowman. I pray daily to Him. I also study the scriptures daily and try to continue learning about Him. My main focus and responsibility is being a righteous husband, father, son, brother and neighbor, helping my family and those outside my family, where I can. I feel an obligation and try helping the poor and the needy by contributing of my means. Developing a close relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ, by acknowledging Them and trying to be like Them, is my daily quest. I try using the sacred atonement of Jesus Christ daily to overcome my weaknesses and sin. I try hard to be a responsible, peaceful and kind citizen of this community, country and world. I respect others of different faiths and beliefs and try to love all without judgement.
