Hi I'm Roland

I was born and grew up in Kansas. I am a father and husband. I was a Postmaster in Arizona . I am retired. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to High School and College in Kansas. I played sports in high school. I play fantasy football and fantasy baseball. I like to read. I like to sing and have acted in church pageants. and have done some theater. I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I worked in the fields when I was a youth. I was a dental technician in the Navy for 4 years as a young adult. After the Navy I worked as a fork lift driver for 10 years while I went to College at Saint Mary's University in Kansas. I worked as a postmaster for 30 years before retiring recently. I have taught youth and adults in Sunday church classes. I love to research my ancestors and fill my pedigree chart. I visit families from my church congregation each month to offer help and support whenever they are in need.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church through a home teacher who visited me in my home and taught me a lot about the church. The home teachers came because my wife was a member and therefore the gospel was brought into my home and so I heard the message and became a member of the church. The Church has been a big blessing in my life because of the principles and doctrines that enriched my family. The gospel was the beacon that has kept us together and strong and is a light of truth and direction. I have been shown that there is more than just the moment to live for and that there is an eternity ahead. As a member of Christ's church I have the perspective to enjoy life everyday and to know that my joy will continue into eternity. It gives me an opportunity to serve and help others.

How I live my faith

I try to be honest in all phases of my life. I try to be considerate of other people. I try to live the Golden Rule. I try to be informed and vote. I try to drive safely. I try to support the youth in my community by going to the high school sports activities and recognizing the achievements of the local youth. I work at the church cannery when assignments are available to provide commodities for people in need. I also volunteer periodically at the Deseret Industries Thrift Store to help provide used and recycled products for people less fortunate. I study the scriptures daily and pray regularly. I want to begin my day with the guidance of the spirit. I want to feel a Christlike spirit always. Besides enjoying laughing and smiling, I find my day has the spirit of Christ when I put Him first.
