Hi I'm Matthew C.

I have hiked Half Dome in Yosemite three times and I reduce emissions by taking the bus to work. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I live in western Washington with my wife, two kids and a goldfish. Our little family moved to Washington from Utah in June 2011 so I could take a promotion at work. I am now the manager of a small client service department for a well-known commercial bank. When I am not working, I like to spend time outdoors with my family. We enjoy picnics, camping and swimming. I like hiking too, although the kids are still a bit young for it. I have a bachelor’s degree in public relations and I am almost done with a master’s degree in business administration. I like learning and I love my job.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon so that I can have a closer relationship with God and Jesus Christ. By knowing God’s plan, and living by it, I can have God’s spirit with me, directing me what to do, and strengthening me when times are hard. I am a Mormon because I have seen the blessings that God wants to give us. We just have to know and live by the plan he has for mankind and seek his guidance through prayer. I have a healthy, happy family and a fulfilling career because I seek inspiration from God when I am making life decisions. In addition, the principles taught by God’s modern prophet, who is the president of the church today, give us the building blocks for a happy, fulfilling life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active part of my congregation, called a ward, and by being a caring father and husband. On a regular basis, I visit families that belong to our ward and find out how they’re doing. If they need help with employment, need to talk about the challenges of parenting, or need to haul away yard waste, I am available to help, to find a solution and to encourage. I also help coordinate the efforts of the local full-time missionaries, so that their time is used appropriately and so that they have the opportunity to teach people who want to know more about the church. At home, I try to show the same amount of involvement. I attempt to have a household where my wife and children feel safe, loved and inspired to be their very best. The central organization in the beliefs of our church is the family, so they are my highest priority.
