Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Wife, a Mother of seven beautiful children, a volunteer in my community, and a structural engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young child, I always spoke to God. I felt a closeness to him that only a humble child can feel. I grew up a member of the Catholic faith and attended a Catholic school. Yet something was always missing..... One day, I received a phone call from a missionary from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He wanted to give me a book that contained the writings of the ancestors of the Native Americans. My mother is Mohawk, and I was interested in reading this book. Two missionaries brought the Book of Mormon and the restored Gospel to my home. I listened to them intently, with great interest. After a few discussions, I started to realize that what they were teaching me was true. I listened humbly with my heart, and that is where the Holy Ghost speaks. It spoke loud and clear to me. Everything they taught me made absolute, complete sense. I had the profound impression that my Father in Heaven had caught up with me and had expectations for me. The words that came to mind at that time were, “This is real”. In a way it scared me, because I knew at that point, I had to start being “good”, and I was afraid of failing. The missionaries seemed so pure to me, in a spiritual sense, that they appeared to glow. I felt even my thoughts should be as pure as possible in the presence of these two young men. After fasting and prayers, I knew it was all true, and that God expected me to be baptized and follow him. Thinking back to my childhood, I remember praying to God and expressing that I would love to do a great work for him. I now know the greatest work one can do is reach out to others and bear testimony of the restored Gospel - that this is all true. God is real. Christ is real. His sacrifice was real. This church is his restored church with all the authority from God himself. I love my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. I hope and strive to always follow in his ways.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to give to my community through volunteering. By serving on school board committees and in local government. By serving on PTA boards and volunteering in the schools. By helping those in the community ---- my neighbors and friends. I live my faith by being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, and virtuous and in doing good to ALL men, and if there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report or praiseworthy, I seek after these things. (From our Articles of Faith) I live my faith by attending church every Sunday and keeping the Sabbath day holy. I live my faith by reading God's word in the scriptures and applying them to my life everyday. I live my faith by loving God and Christ above all else, and by loving others as I would have them love me.
