Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in Oregon. I taught high school home economics for a couple of years, then married and had a family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and rasied in Oregon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My father is a convert to the Church and my mother from Mormon pioneer heritage. My parents and siblings have been active members of the Church all of our lives. Throughout my life we have had a close family bond that continues to strengthen each one of us through our times of great happiness as well as challenges and adversity that we have had. After attending college and receiving a degree in secondary education, I taught high school home economics for two years. During that time, I met my husband and we were married in the temple. I left the work force to become a fulltime wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for 31 years and have raised 5 children. Being a wife and mother has brought the greatest joy to my life. Our children are grown and beginning to marry and have families of their own, adding even more to our happiness. My husband and I have lived in Arizona for 29 years where his employment had taken us and we have enjoyed raising our children for many of those years on a small citrus farm, which has given all of us a greater appreciation for the value of work. I enjoy reading, sewing, cooking, gardening, canning and preserving what we grow and especially serving in the Church. I have had the opportunity to serve in the women's organization of the Church known as the Relief Society, offering humanitarian service locally as well as abroad.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always felt a deep gratitude for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even as a child, I felt that Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ knew who I was and I felt their love for me. Throughout my life, as I have studied the scriptures I have come to more fully know and appreciate the great plan of happiness that They desire for all mankind. I am grateful to have been born in this period of time on the earth when the gospel of Jesus Christ, that He had established in the meridian of time, while He was on the earth, has been retored in it's fullness. I am grateful for the Prophet Joseph Smith, whom the Lord called to be the first Prophet in this dispensation, was faithful in his calling, as he translated the Book of Mormon and again helped the Lord in establishing His Kingdom here upon the earth. I am grateful that we have a modern-day Prophet today who faithfully and obediently continues to guide the Lord's work today. I have come to know for myself, of the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon. It is another testament of Jesus Christ as is the Holy Bible. In these troubled times, the holy scriptures and words of the Prophets and Apostles give comfort and direction and great hope for better days to come, when the Savior of the world returns again to the earth.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in leadership callings with the children as well as the youth and the women in the church. From the age of 18 to present, in our women's organization, I, along with other women in the Church, have served as a visiting teacher to 2 or 3 other women in the Church. Each month, a visit is made to their homes and a spiritual message shared. Long time friendships have been made. I have served on PTO boards in the schools that my children attended. I currently teach seminary, a religion class for the youth of the Church, to special needs high school students. I am also currently serving with my husband in a young single adult congregation of the church for ages 18 to 30 years old. I teach a Family Relations class to the young members of our congregation who are preparing to be married.
