Hi I'm Yvonne

I grew up in Arizona and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four good children. Our family likes to watch funny video clips, movies or listen to my husband tell us stories. I enjoy reading to my son and teaching him at home. I like to play the piano, learn new dances, play board games and go on trips. My current goal is to learn more about the Constitution and government.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a very long time. I was raised on their stories of trials of faith that they endured in their lives. So while I was growing up I went to church and felt happy to be there. As I grew I began to learn more about other religions and more about my own. I have always been able to find answers to my questions and they were not all answered by my parents, teachers or friends. I prayed to know if what I was learning was true and I always had my faith confirmed. Life is definitely not easy, I may not have the same trials that my ancestors had, but I do know that without the church in my life it would definitely be a lot harder to deal with. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me daily to have hope and faith to repent and endure so that I can return to him.

How I live my faith

I love to go to church every Sunday. It renews a spiritual battery inside me so that I can make it through the week. The best part of being at church is that I can renew promises I have made with Him and feel close to Him. I've had many opportunities at church to be of service to the other members in my area and this helps me to feel like I am a valuable part of my church family. One is to visit assigned women with whom I get to know a little better in their own homes. We share gospel messages and support each other through the good and the bad times in our lives. Another thing I get to do right now is to share how I have discovered my family history with others in the church family and encourage them to do it too. My favorite thing to do everyday though is to play hymns and I enjoy reading the scriptures and other church books too.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Death is only like walking through a door to another room, except that you can't take your body with you. In God's plan we came to earth for our body and to be tested here in life, whether we will choose the good or the bad. Then our bodies die and all that we are in spirit returns to the spirit world. While I am there, I will get to revisit my family that has already passed away. Then someday we will all have a special day where our bodies and spirits will be one again forever. Show more Show less
