Hi I'm Savannah Young

I am a missionary, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I love to sing, run, and smile. I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

I am the oldest in a family of seven, and my family means the world to me! Right now I am serving a mission in Oklahoma City, and I love spreading the gospel! I attended BYU for a year, majoring in business and minoring in music, and I loved every minute of it :) I love being around people and making new friends. My favorite things to do are sing, act, and run, because they help me express myself. I also enjoy reading, I especially love the Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Selection series. I also love to smile and laugh because it makes me and those around me happier :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because living the gospel and following God's counsel brings joy to my life. I noticed God's hand in my life and am so grateful for the many blessings I've received for living the way He has asked. I know that the counsel He gives us through modern day prophets helps to better our lives and brings us closer to Christ. I love the spirit I feel when I attend church and when I am learning more about the gospel. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and I am his daughter. This knowledge gives me purpose and confidence and brings me comfort in times of sadness. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and every time I read it, I learn valuable lessons that help me overcome trials and better myself. I am so grateful that I can pray to Heavenly Father, and I know that He answers prayers. Talking to Him never fails to bring me peace. I also love the standards of the church. They have been given us by divine inspiration, and are designed to make us happier. Another thing I love about my religion is the emphasis that is put on families. I know that we were sent to this earth with our families because we were meant to be together and help each other grow. My family has always blessed my life, and I am so glad that I have the knowledge that we can be together for eternity. This gospel is such a blessing to my life and I am so grateful to be a part of this church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. Right now, it is by being a missionary for the church and sharing the gospel with everyone I meet. I also strive to be an example to others by following the standards and developing Christlike attributes.I try to be kind to everyone I come in contact with and serve others as much as possible. I live my faith by being a friend to everybody and helping them feel loved.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Savannah Young
We have church every Sunday for 3 hours. The first hour is sacrament meeting, it is where we take bread and water for the sacrament that symbolizes the body and blood of Jesus Christ. We take the sacrament to renew our covenants of baptism with God so our sins can be atoned for. Also in sacrament meeting, there are speakers, usually 3, a youth speaker and two adult speakers. People from the congregation age 12 and older are asked to give talks about 2 weeks in advance. We also sing hymns, we use music to praise God. 2nd hour we meet in sunday school classes, these are classes split up according to age group. Third hour, we go to classes with our same general age and gender. for example, I attend Relief Society; a meeting for women ages 18 years and older. Visitors are always warmly welcomed at church, and I promise there is nothing intimidating about it, I actually really enjoy attending church. Also, normally people wear nicer clothes to church to show their respect for God. Women wear dresses and skirts, and men wear a white shirt, dress pants and a tie. If you are interested in our church, or even if you're not, you should definitely come! Show more Show less
