Hi I'm Frank

I'm a father of 5, grandfather of 11. I'm a retired electrical engineer. I've spent 4 years in South Korea. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Frank. I'm a retired engineer. Interests include family communication, family history, U.S. history, temples in various religious cultures, singing in Church, temple service in the Church, keeping up with engineering developments, early Christian history, mathematics, physics, college sports, major league baseball, yard work and politics. I speak some Korean. I've spent 4 years in South Korea in Church service. I've served on Boy Scout committees for several years.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave wonderful guidance for life. When I wanted to gain my own sure knowledge and testimony of the truth of its teachings, the way was clear. While in high school, I put forth a concentrated effort of prayer, continued Church participation, study of the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, including the Bible, discussions with family and others, and striving for worthy living. Prayers were answered. A firm testimony came. As is necessary, continued efforts to serve and increase in knowledge and wisdom strengthened and deepened my testimony concerning this Church. Serving a full-time mission and learning the gospel while attending college helped a great deal. Serving in the Church wherever called, marrying in a temple of this Church and raising a family have added to the experiences which have strengthened my knowledge and deep peace in being a "Mormon". When in deep thought, or in pleading for help from our Heavenly Father, and sometimes while singing or thinking about one of the hymns of the Church, I've felt a closeness to the Savior and to His Father and our Father, which is rich beyond expression. I know that Joseph Smith was the Lord's chosen prophet to restore sacred truths and necessary priesthood authority to organize the Lord's one true Church in the 1800s. I know the Book of Mormon is a true book. The only explanation of its origin which makes sense to an honest searcher for truth is that which Joseph Smith gave. But a certainty of its truth comes through the influence of the Holy Spriit, whispering clearly to my heart, so to speak. I have seen many efforts by detractors and apostates to explain the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and / or this Church. None even begins to hold up under investigation, except that which its leaders have taught.

How I live my faith

Church participation includes coordination of maintenance and repairs for three Church buildings, coordinating scheduled temple service for local Church organizations; choir singing, and temple service. Also included is regular visiting to several families, with another Church member. Community participation involves volunteering as a teacher's classroom helper at a few schools. There is also some participation in a neighborhood preparedness and watch group. I'm on call to help an elderly neighbor with shopping or rides. I just re-enlisted as a Boy Scout merit badge counselor.
