Hi I'm Esther

I'm a Mormon. Our family runs a guest ranch. I love cooking, riding a horse, being with my family and talking about the gospel!

About Me

At the early age of only twenty one and nineteen, my husband and I took over a summer ranch camp for children. We had kids come and stay with us for a couple of weeks at a time. We had lots of fun playing with them and teaching them all about hard work and riding horses. We later took over our family guest ranch. There we had families come stay with us. We lived on the ranch in the mountains in the summer and in nearby small town in the winter. It has been a great life. We have had the privilege of meeting lots of great people who, like us, love their families. I love riding horses, cooking, creative writing, working at our nearby LDS Temple, and especially love being with my family. In addition to our seven children, we now have sixteen grandchildren and what joy they add to our life! As I said, I like to cook and love when I can share with someone a recipe that they will enjoy. It is the same with my religious beliefs, I love sharing my religious beliefs with others because I know the teachings of the LDS Church have blessed me tremendously and I know they will likewise bless others who choose to live them!

Why I am a Mormon

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to please and live again with my Heavenly Father. At the age of twelve, I formally started my search to learn more about God when a close friend of mine, Elaine, and I decided we should join a church. The closest one to us with the Methodist Church and so we decided we would join it. We enjoyed the nice people but I never really felt the Spirit there. When I was sixteen, I spent the summer with my sister and her family. They attended the Baptist Church. The minister invited those who wanted to know Christ to come forward and so I did. He said I should come back on Saturday and be baptized. I did that and again, I was disappointed that I didn't feel the Spirit. I later married a man who was LDS and began studying the teaching of his church. I studied it for a couple of years and I felt that the Lord wanted me to join this church and so I did at the age of twenty-three. At first, my testimony was pretty small but I felt good about joining the church. As time went by, I decided that I needed a stronger testimony and really began to study the Book of Mormon. I felt the Spirit many, many times when I read it and I knew it was the word of God. I prayed and told the Lord that if He would tell me if this was His church, I would do my very best to live the rest of my life. He confirmed to me that it was true and I have tried to keep my end of the agreement. I truly feel that I have found what I started looking for when I was twelve. I believe from the depths of my soul that this is Christ’s Church. I have been a member now over forty years (yep, I’m that old!). I can testify with all my heart that my life has been blessed in every way from being a member of the LDS Church. One of the greatest joys of being a member of Christ’s church was to have had the privlige of going to His Holy House, the Temple, and having my family sealed to me for eternity!

How I live my faith

I feel my membership in the LDS Church has been the single most important teaching factor in helping to raise our seven children. I know the teachings of the Lord's Church have helped me be a better parent, better spouse, better friend and neighbor. As a child, my family moved often and so I have a tender spot in my heart for newcomers. I have never gotten involved in politics and so felt I wasn't improving the world. I then decided the way I could bless the world was to bless my neighborhood. I have tried to be a friend to all my neighbors and have for over twenty-five years have been our neighborhood coordinator for activities. We have three neighborhood parties each year and it has been a wonderful experience to get to know so many of God's children! My husband and I also went on a mission for our church. We went to Florida and again meet so many wonderful people! We stay in touch with many of those great people and feel our life would not have been complete if we had not gone and met these great people! I am so grateful that we know that our families can be together eternally and also our friendships! Both my husband and I worked at our nearby Temple. Because of health issues, he has had to stop working there but I have been able to continue. Going to the House of the Lord is a huge blessing to my life. I receive my spiritual promptings and guidance for my life. When I leave the Temple, I feel renewed and restored from the stresses of life. My greatest desire is to be faithful to the Lord’s teachings until my last breathe! It is also my desire that all my family and dear friends will do the same. I am so grateful that the Lord led me to His Church as I know I would never know the peace and happiness that I have if I had not joined it and strived to live its teachings.
