Hi I'm Lois Walker

I am a daughter of God, I am a sister to you, I am a friend and a mom and a wife and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to an amazing man for 14 years and have the opportunity to be a mother of 4 beautiful children. I work as a medical transcriptionist out of my home so that I can be a full-time mom. I love to run, I have finished a marathon and love to practice yoga. Our family loves to go to Disneyland and we go once or twice a year. Spending time with my husband and children makes me feel close to Heavenly Father and helps me realize who I am and why I am here.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and raised as a Mormon. After moving away from my family I stopped attending church and soon began making choices that contradicted what I had been taught from the scriptures as a child. I was very unhappy and often depressed. I began to research solutions to help with my unhappiness and depression. Every logical answered pointed to religion. I began reading the Book of Mormon with the purpose of finding out for myself if it was true. I prayed upon completion and Moroni's promise was fulfilled, I knew without a doubt that all aspects of this book were true. I was filled with such joy and sense of purpose. My appetite for the gospel became voracious, I began attending church and institute, I watched conference talks on TV, listened to the scripture in my car and found new friends who had the same standards I did. My testimony grew as I researched my gospel questions, prayed and through faith found the answers. I know this is Heavenly Father's true church on the Earth today and am truly filled with joy to know if I live according to Jesus Christ's teachings I can return to live with my loving Father again.

How I live my faith

Recently, I realized how serving in my church has helped me to become a better parent and strengthened my own faith and testimony. I have four children ages 3, 5, 7 and 12. Being a parent is very challenging and I often become discouraged. We have wonderful programs in this church that help our children learn to set and accomplish goals. I have the unique opportunity to be part of these programs for girls age 8-18. The first program, which is called "Faith in God" is for girls age 8-12 years. I have been part of this program for the past two years and through teaching these girls positive habits such as manners, nutrition and helping others, I have found tools that help teach these attributes to my own children at home. The second program which is called "Personal Progress" is for girls age 12-18 years. I recently started working with these girls to help them set goals such as daily prayer, compassionate service and developing talents. In helping these girls it has made me realize that I need to set a good example which has motivated me to reevaluate my own personal goals and standards and set the "bar" higher. As I work with these girls I realize that helping others truly brings joy and balance to my life.
