Hi I'm Lorena

I'm a mother, a musician, a dancer and a teacher. I'm a thinker, a reader and an artist. I'm a cook and gardener. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently have the best set of jobs in the world. As a wife and mother, my main pursuit is the raising of my children as a stay at home mother. I also get to teach other children in addition to my own how to play the violin, the piano and my favorite, how to sing! I love having so many opportunities to hone my God-given talents in the fertile atmosphere of young minds who want to be involved in every creative endeavor I embark upon. My children are spirited companions for many of my interests, be it music, dancing, gardening, flower arranging, baking, or enjoying great books. It brings me great joy to see their wise young minds at work when we read the scriptures and discuss things of a spiritual nature. I have such gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the sacred trust He has invested in me to teach my children to know Him and desire to do His will. As a member of the Church of Latter-day Saints, I feel the Spirit of our Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, as I give thanks daily for and celebrate the rich abundance with which he has blessed me and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a wonderful community of Latter-day Saints who helped me become who I am today. I was raised in a single parent home, and my wonderful mother kept all ten of her children on the path to a college education despite the harships of raising so many alone. We all felt such love and support from the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who lived on our street and with whom we attended church. I will forever be grateful to such good examples of happy people who know how to live good and honorable lives. Being a member of this Church has been an undeniable blessing for me. By applying true principles contained in the scriptures, I have come to know my Savior and the true meaning of His Atonement. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. He has given me incredible spiritual gifts throughout my life. These gifts bring true joy, heavenly happiness and security. His greatest gift to me has been an increased understanding of His Atonement and His sacrifice which connects me to him with complete love and adoration. I know that by experimenting on the principles of this true gospel, I have come to know many sacred and sustaining things about my Savior, myself and how I fit into the great plan. There is no way I've seen to understand the important things in life and eternity better than through the teachings of this incredible Church that I've had the privilege of belonging to for 25 years.

How I live my faith

I love to teach the children on Sundays during their Sunday school hour. Singing and sharing scripture stories with them is one of the highlights of my week. I really get to be myself with them and share the divine nature that is in me and strive to encourage it in each of them as well. I am grateful for the many ways I have been able to serve others in the community and within my Church because I have been backed by my testimony of service gained by a study of Jesus Christ's life and ministry. I strive to share my talents where they may lighten the load of someone else engaged in a good cause, be it a music event, a new charter school in the making, or personal projects that I may lend some experience or expertise on. I believe it is because of my faith in my Savior and all that he stands for that I feel a moral duty to my fellow man and understand my responsibility to carry out those duties.
