Hi I'm Maddie Riggs

I'm a teenage long-distance runner, cellist, and singer. I'm a daughter, younger sister, friend, teammate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born (and so far) raised in Arizona. I have two wonderful parents, three older sister, and two brother-in-laws. I love them SO much and enjoy the time I get to spend with them when we are all together. I am currently in high school and am loving being a teenage girl. I like to hang out with my friends and socialize with them at school and on the weekends. I am very active and absolutely love running. I run competitively on my not-so-average varsity cross country and track teams. Running helps me constantly set and achieve goals for myself, exercise and stay in shape, learn responsibility, make new friends, and have fun! I also have a gift for music and play the cello and sing in choir at school, and play the piano at home. One thing that gets me through my stressful and busy day is my knowledge that my Heavenly Father lives and loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because of my family. I was born into a family of great faith in God and in this church. Many generations before my parents were also Mormons. I have felt that the church was true ever since I was a little kid. I always have known that God loves me and that this is His church and being a part of it is the only way I can be truly happy. I have tested my faith and been so blessed to have many powerful experiences already in my short lifetime that make my testimony even stronger. Because of those experiences, I could never deny that God lives, even when I have doubts. And yes, I do have occasional doubts in the back of my mind that maybe I am just being brainwashed or that I only believe these things because my friends and family do. But when I turn to God by reading the scriptures, praying, or attending church meetings, I feel the warm comforting feeling of His loving spirit and I know that what I believe is true.

How I live my faith

I am 16 years old so I am in the Young Women's program. I go to church every Sunday for Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, and Young Women's. I also go to a youth activity every Wednesday called Mutual. Many members have callings and serve in different responsibilities as leaders, counselors, and teachers, and I am blessed to have a calling as well. I serve in the Stake Youth Council and help plan youth activities, socials, and dances for the teenagers in my stake.
