Hi I'm Deanna

I am an Arizona native, a wife, a mother, an elementary school teacher and....I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona. I am the oldest of 4 kids and have a very large extended family which I think is so much fun. After I high school, I attended Arizona State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching school for 10+ years. Several years ago, I got married, had a son, and then went through a divorce. Recently, I have gotten remarried so I am now a mother to 3 boys (plus a husband). We also have a cat and a dog in our household. Have you heard the saying “a jack of all trades, a master of none”? This is how I feel about myself. There is so much I enjoy doing that there is little time for mastering just one. Some of my hobbies include; playing softball, playing the piano, baking, scrapbooking or doing crafts, camping/being outdoors, teaching. Some things I’d like to do better are; cooking healthy, decorating my home, keeping my car clean and singing.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel very fortunate to have been born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From a young age I felt the spirit as my dad would pray or my mother would sing hymns around the house. This brought happiness to our home and is something I wanted for my family as well. My family means the world to me. I can’t imagine life without them. The Gospel provides a way for families to be sealed together after this life. It shows me the straight and narrow path to return to my Heavenly Father and have eternal life. Being a member of the Church is not always easy. Through times of trials it often feels like running and hiding would be the better or easier way. However, each time I pray, read the scriptures or attend church I feel peace. It reconfirms that I am a child of God and that he has a plan for me. I have a testimony of the Jesus Christ. I know he has felt my sufferings and has atoned for my sins. I have a testimony of a loving Heavenly Father, that he knows and love each of us. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He prayed and saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. He restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the Earth. I am so thankful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Currently, I play the piano at church each week for the children’s classes. I love to hear their sweet voices sing about Jesus Christ. I can feel the purity in their hearts as they sing. I am also a visiting teacher. I am not perfect at it but I do enjoy visiting with other women from church, checking on their general welfare and bringing a spiritual message to them. It is a wonderful thing to be able to relate and bond with other women. The most important part of living my faith is in my day to day actions. I don’t go around preaching my beliefs to others but I do try to be a good example of what a Mormon is. I hope those I meet know that my religion is a vital part of who I am. I am always trying to be a better missionary, to pray more often, to read my scriptures, to be more patient, to be a good wife and mother and to be a better person. I am a work in progress :)
