Hi I'm Scott

I am a father of 3. I love camping, target shooting, and building things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lucky family man who tries to squeeze in a career and hobbies when I have the time. In college, I fell in love with the girl of my dreams and found a passion for commercial construction. I love the being able to see the result of my efforts as my projects take shape. When I'm not working, I enjoy everything about the outdoors: Shooting, fishing, backpacking, camping, biking...all with 3 kids and a dog in tow.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long legacy of Mormons that reaches back for generations on my father's side of the family. My mother is a convert who's family did not approve of her decision to join the church. It's been a blessing to grow up with the points of view from both of my parents. I was fortunate to be raised in a family that taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ early and guided me away from many of the problems to be had in life. At the same time, I was also able to understand the challenges that my mom went through in deciding to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She taught us not to take the gospel for granted, to question our own beliefs, and decide for ourselves what path to follow in life. My dad taught us to be proud of our christian heritage and mom taught us to continue that heritage for all the right reasons. I will forever be grateful for the influences of both of my parents. I was always free to choose my own path and therefore able to discover things for myself. Over the years I have studied the scriptures, prayed to Heavenly Father, and tried to live the best that I can in order to know about God and his plan for me. I can say without a doubt that I do know that Jesus is the Savior of the world. I know that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the Word of God given to bless his children on Earth. The Spirit of God has testified to me that this is His Church. My prayers have been answered as I know that everyone's can be.

How I live my faith

My wife and I try our best to live true the to teachings of Jesus for ourselves and also for our children. We study the scriptures, pray, attend church, and try our best to help out those in need. It seems like the more I do to live gospel, the easier it becomes! One of my favorite parts of Christ's church is being a Home Teacher. The men of the church are asked to visit the home of several families in this capacity. If Jesus were here today, I think that he would spend his days visiting everybody in their homes, blessing their families, and uplifting those in need. As a Home Teacher, I am trying to do what I feel He would do. I love the opportunity to help others and have found new friends in each home that I get to visit. I also participate in the Boy Scout program at the church, working with the 12 and 13-year-old boys. It's refreshing to interact with young men who want to do good things, who understand the importance of honesty, integrity, and citizenship. We try to reinforce these good principals while "living it up" in the Great Outdoors.
