Hi I'm Julie

I love my 3 small children, piano, and volleyball. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

There’s nothing more therapeutic than crushing a perfectly set volleyball! Second best would have to be getting lost in a melody that my fingers can find on the piano without conscious assistance from my brain. Still, nothing really tops the laughter of my young children, who beam like a ray of sunshine, and remind me how much I’m loved. I also love baking bread, gardening, sewing, and all kinds of projects. I love planning events, especially getting creative with themed birthday parties (including home-made 3D cakes, of course). For my husband’s businesses I’ve created logos, ads, databases, spreadsheets, financials…and lots of other nerdy stuff using my accounting degree in a mostly mom-friendly way.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the LDS church I had regular experiences reassuring and strengthening my belief and commitment to living the gospel. One particularly poignant influence came from my grandfather who instilled in me a vision of all that I could become. He encouraged me to always do my best and stretch further with everything I engaged in, so I could be prepared for my life’s mission. Living the gospel according to the standards of the “Mormon” church was always a central part of that quest to becoming my best and being able to really impact the lives of others. As I’ve grown and experienced life, I’ve always found his counsel to be accurate in its promise that life would go better, and struggles would be more manageable the closer I kept to the my Savior and came to know Him through this gospel. It’s just true. When economic and other family trials have stretched me to my limits, I have found peace and assistance through doctrines and involvement in the church.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith through continually working to follow its precepts more fully, and by helping others do the same. I'm currently in leadership of an organization for children serving both on Sundays and at week night activities including cub scouts. I also play piano to accompany singing of hymns during our meetings. In the past I’ve taught and planned activities for all different ages and I’ve loved and grown from each position I’ve served in. I’ve also loved getting to work closely with so many different people who have taught me by example of their various strengths.
