Hi I'm Jake

I have 4 kids and love being a dad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are the parents of four wonderful children. I love spending time with my family. Some of our favorite activities are: playing outside, going on walks & hikes, visiting zoos & museums, and playing games. My personal interests include skiing, backpacking, foosball, and reading. I enjoy outdoor cooking (smoking food, grilling, and cooking in Dutch ovens). I have an MBA and currently work in corporate finance.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both became Mormons shortly before I was born. They raised me in the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a child and youth living the gospel, I was always happy and grew to know that my Heavenly Father loves me and wants the best for me. In my late teens, I decided that I wanted to know for sure if Joseph Smith was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon is true. I read the entire Book of Mormon for the first time by myself. As I read, I felt my Heavenly Father’s love. I asked Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet and I felt another great out pouring of love. From that time forward I have never seriously doubted. That being said I have not always lived the gospel as well as I should but that too has strengthened my belief. Whenever I am trying to live the gospel, good times or bad, I feel my Heavenly Father’s love for me. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It is the path to happiness in this life and the next. The best way to know for yourself is to give it a try.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the 12 and 13 year old young men at church. It is a fun age to teach because they are just starting to figure out who they are going to be. They have lots of energy and are tough to keep focused. When I teach them, I try so very hard to help them learn all of the things I didn’t know when I was their age. They are good boys who have a desire to help others and do what is right. We do have fun activities as well during the week including Boy Scouts, sports, dodgeball, capture the flag, and various service projects. Most of the time, I enjoy the activities as much as the boys do.
