Hi I'm Lisa

I’m a wife, mother, grandmother and an emu rancher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in California. I am the sixth of six children born to wonderful parents who not only cared for us, but also gave us the desire to succeed in this life and the life to come. One of our favorite activities was going to the beach just to spend time with each other. I have fond memories of eating Kentucky Fried Chicken while trying to keep sand out of my lunch. My parents made sure that we went to Idaho every year to visit our grandparents. It was important to our parents that we knew our grandparents and could benefit from the wisdom they possessed. I suppose the yearly adventure into Yellowstone National Park and Island Park, Idaho helped foster my love for nature and the beauty of this earth. My husband and I met at BYU. Since then, we’ve been blessed with four wonderful children. We also have a great son-in-law and the best grandchildren in the world. We tried to follow our parents’ examples in making sure our children had the opportunity to know and learn from their grandparents and have close associations with their cousins. Now that my children are grown, I work as a graphic artist in a local print shop. My husband and I also inherited two emus when we bought our current house. Our flock has grown to 18 birds since then. We still have a lot to learn about emus.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My parents were great examples of how to follow God’s plan and to learn of Him. But like everyone else, I had to learn for myself of the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I couldn’t tell you a certain date when I knew the Church was true. It came a little at a time. As I grew and my capacity for understanding spiritual things grew, so did my testimony. As it says in John 7:17, “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” This is how I gained my testimony. Since then, I have had experiences that have taught me of the love our Father and Jesus Christ have for me personally. Now I not only believe in Christ, but I believe Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing simple things. I read the scriptures, attend my church meetings, and pray daily. I try to surround myself with good things that will invite the Spirit into my home. I try to serve those around me. Currently I work with the children at church, and I love it! You can’t help but feel the spirit with these young ones. I’m certainly not perfect, but I try to do the things that God wants me to do. While I have learned a great deal about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I know that I must study the gospel and live it in order to keep the Spirit burning bright in my life.
