Hi I'm Alejandra

I am an immigrant. I grew up in Mexico. I am a sister and an aunt. I am an Elementary school teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Mexico. I came to the US when I was 12 year old. Learning English has been one of the hardest things I have done but I had great teachers that help get through it and excel at it. Now I give back by teaching kids that are learning English. I love being a teacher it is not what I do but what I am. I spend ridiculous amount of time preparing lessons and thinking of way to help them learn. It is the best feeling in the world to see my student blossom. I am the oldest of three siblings and two half sibling. My mother past away from cancer and my father and half siblings live in Mexico. I have one niece and four nephews. I have one of my nephews living with me to help him succeed in school. I also have a lot of extend family that I love but do not have frequent contact. I am also an animal lover. I have a cat and have been taking care of my sister’s dog for over a year. I love to read and watch cop shows, and movies. I group them together because I like them for the same reason that is that I like stories and mystery and solving puzzles and to see things from different perspectives. My favorite is adventure stories but I also like drama and comedy. My favorite books are Les Miserable, Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter. Favorite shows are most cop shows. I also like watching sports especially the Olympics. My life revolves around God, my family, my friends and my work.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because here is where I learn that I am a daughter of God and that he loves me and has a plan for all of us to learn and grow and return to live with him. I am a Mormon because I took the challenge in the Book of Mormon to ask of God if the things I was reading and being taught were true and I received a witness of the Spirit that that they were. I am a Mormon because I am happy living the principals of the Gospel and knowing that I am love and watched over and that there is a point to our trials and a map that will helps us be happy as we go through life. I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father is our Father and he loves us and has a plan for us to return to live with him as families. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior that he loves us and died for us so that we could return to our Father. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and was translated by a prophet of God - Joseph Smith. I know we have a latter day prophet President Thomas S. Monson to guide us in our time just as the prophets of old. I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and I find joy in it.

How I live my faith

I I go to church on Sundays to get closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It renews my spirit, I remember my promises to choose the right and trust God. We have lesson on the scriptures, other gospel principals and also provident living. I also teach a class once a month to the women of the church. It is hard for me to teach adults but I learn so much as I render service to them. I try to visit three women once a month. We build friendships and talk about our lives. It is a great blessing to know that we are not alone but have a great support in each other. I pray to help me get through the day, to have the guidance of the spirit and for help as I make decision. It is also a way to talk to my Father in Heaven and strengthen my relationship with him. I read and the scriptures (Bible and the Book of Mormon). I love learning and understanding principals. As a read I find answers to my questions. It is a way for my Father in Heaven to talk to me to teach me what I need to know to get through my trails and make the right decisions. I try to live the Golden Rule to treat others as we want to be treated. I try to help other whenever I can especially at work. I like helping other teachers find answers or things they need. I try to participate in my community by voting and supporting local causes and businesses. I am working a little bit at a time on my genealogy. I want to find my ancestors. It is like discovering a story - my story. It is hard work but well worth it.
