Hi I'm Tara

I am a Colorado native. I'm a dairyman's daughter, I'm a mother of three, I'm a teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a dairy. All I ever wanted to be was a wife and a MOM! My husband is my best friend, and my three children are the most rigorous university I have ever attended. I began my undergraduate work at Brigham Young University, and after the first semester I got a job and then got married shortly after that. Our first child died two days after she was born, then we were blessed with three more - a son and two daughters. I felt like my time to finish college had passed. Through volunteer work in the community I worked with a woman who hadn't gone to college until after her kids were born. She inspired me! I knew I could do it! I finished my undergrad at BYU and then finished my Master's. I have been blessed with amazing opportunities. I am a teacher! I love how education can change people's lives. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ changes people's lives too.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it works! When I live a principle of the gospel I receive the promised blessing. When our daughter died, the Lord wrapped my husband and I in an incredibly warm blanket assuring us both that we are a family forever. I know it's true, the same way I feel sunshine when I'm out in the sun. I pray, read my scriptures, and go to church because it works! Without those things I would not have the peace and direction in my life that I so desparately need on a daily basis.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth. I think the youth program is a fountain of youth - it keeps everyone who works in it young. Youth everywhere are a strong force for good if given the opportunity. I enjoy the youth. I go to girl's camp, I trek in a desert in a skirt, I repel, whitewater raft, cook, laugh, cry, and pray with some of the most amazing young people in the world.
