Hi I'm Melissa

I was born and raised in Utah. I love to travel and I'm a mom of one. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a dancer most of my life and although being a mom takes up all of my time, I still like to dance around with my little one. I have a BA in International Studies and I'm very interested to studying people and cultures. I've been a nanny in England and I'm trying to be the best wife and mother I can be.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was lucky enough to live around lots of other Mormons. While traveling abroad I got a lot of questions about me and my religion. Through these questions, and my own personal study I have come to know the LDS religion on a different level. I know that this is truely the Church of Jesus Christ (of Latter-day Saints).

How I live my faith

Until recently I was a leader for the "Beehive" class (young women ages 12-14). I loved teaching and learning from them. We pray and read scriptures in our home. We also try to create an atmosphere where the Spirit of the Lord can reside.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Melissa
One lesson on this topic stands out to me. We discussed how women may not have the priesthood, but we do have motherhood which is a divine calling as well. Few people hold more power to influence the rising generations than mothers. Because women are blessed with this sacred purpose, we are not called to hold the priesthood. That honor is given to the men, who use it to bless others. Together, as husbands and wives, mothers and fathers we can work together to become closer to the Lord. Show more Show less
