Hi I'm Katherine

I live in the Pacific Northwest, USA. I'm a grandma. I am soon to be a missionary serving in Hawaii and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

This year I retired from teaching in a public school. I have filled my time with many things I love to do. First and foremost is enjoying time with my family. I plan time to play with my grandchildren. I also enjoy reading and learning new things. I like to create and make things, especially by sewing and quilting. Being outdoors makes me happy. I love to go for walks, hike, and garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a part member LDS family. My mom was a member but not active at first. My father was not a member but had respect for the Church. Our ward (congregation) members were warm and welcoming. They were our neighbors and friends. Over the years my family started attending church and by the time I was a teenager, I was fully involved in all the church activities. All of my life I have believed in God; it was never a struggle for me to appreciate his presence in my life, to feel that he knew me and that I could pray to Him. I consider that a great blessing. Over years I have studied the scriptures and the doctrines of the Church. I have continued to pray for guidance and received undeniable answers. The Gospel and the Church have given me the best opportunity to feel grounded in good things, to be happy and fulfilled in this often unsettling and confusing world.

How I live my faith

Serving in my church is also important to me. I have had many opportunities to serve in many church assignments but my favorite and current assignment is teaching young children in the children's organization called Primary. Each Sunday I gather with a group of ten little people to enjoy time together and to learn about Jesus in ways that capture their attention. I always learn something from them as well, especially how to laugh and enjoy life. Finding small often quiet ways to serve others is also something I try to do. It is very rewarding to me personally to be helpful and involved. That is how so many of my true friendships have been made and cultivated.
