Hi I'm Merritt

My name is Merritt. I love the outdoors. I love my family. I love the Lord. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Merritt. I'm from Seattle, WA. I have three sisters, two incredible parents, and an amazing German Shepherd named Gryffin. I love the Pacific Northwest and everything about it. With my family and friends, I enjoy running, hiking, sailing, biking, kayaking, soccer, and just about everything else that can get me outside. For the next two years I will be serving a mission in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. The Lord has blessed my life in more ways than I can count, and definitely more than I deserve. I know that if you give him a chance, he'll do the same for you!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born and grow up as a Mormon in an amazing family. My parents have set such a good example for me, and my three sisters are a constant source of support and love to me. But do not think for a second that I am only here because I was raised here. In the end, everyone must make their own choice about following Christ. I have made mine, and have been blessed for it. I am not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I want it to be true, I am a member because I know it is true. I know that Jesus Christ and God the Father restored the true gospel on the Earth through Joseph Smith. I know that Jesus died on the cross for me personally, so that I might be forgiven of my sins and become a better person. I know that he loves me more than I can comprehend, and that he wants each of us to come unto him and be saved. That is why I am a Mormon. It makes me the best that I can be and I know that through it I will one day live for eternity with my family in Gods presence.

How I live my faith

All my life I have been preparing to serve a mission for the Lord. Just a few months ago, I was assigned to serve for two years in the Bahia Blanca, Argentina Mission. As I write this now, I am packing my bags and flying out tomorrow. I know that it will be one of the most trying and difficult experiences of my life, but I am excited to serve the Lord and the people of Argentina. I have been given this light, and I want everyone to have the opportunity to have it for themselves. As the prophet Joseph Smith taught, "a religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things never has the power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation." Going on this mission, I will definitely be sacrificing some things, but the fruits of labor for the Lord are worth infinitely more than what I am giving up for just a short two years. Do not let the narrowness of the path or the difficulty of the climb dissuade you from beginning the journey back to our Father in Heaven. Because if there is anything that I know above all things, it will be worth it.
