Hi I'm Kara

I live in Arizona. I love to go bike riding with my kids and build with legos. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college graduate. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Environmental Safety. I am married to a wonderful man who loves and cares about me and our 5 children. The is in college attending BYU-Idaho and loving every minute of it. I work once in awhile. I substitute teach to be involved in my children's lives and education. I enjoy teaching grades 7th-12th and love to teach science, and social studies. I love to read about history and peoples lives. I also enjoy reading books that are fantasy and sci-fi as well as biographies and history. We loved to read Harry Potter and watch the movies as a family. We love to go on vacation to California, to the beach as well as the mountains in Utah and spend time together. Life is an adventure, full of adversity and hardship but it has it's good moments. We look forward to those times in our life that we don't have to struggle so much but we definitely learn and grow from the times we have had to struggle a bit. Life is a challenge and I'm grateful to live the adventure each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that practiced the Mormon religion. I have known about this church ever since I can remember and have taken it for granted for half my life. I relied on my parents testimony and just followed along but as an adult I have come to appreciate and love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They are a peculiar people and I count myself proud to be a part of an organization that serves and loves their fellow man. I have read the Book of Mormon and the Bible and see so many correlations between the two. Studying the Saviors life and being in the Mesa Temple Easter Pageant helped me feel Gods love in my life. I know that through learning about the Savior’s life we can grow closer to Him and learn to love Him and appreciate the atonement which is a special gift that was given to each one of us. I know that he loves us and is aware of our struggles and tribulations and I know that he won’t give us any trial we can’t handle. I know that we will never be alone and that even in the darkest hours of our lives when all hope seems lost, Christ will walk by our side and be there for us. I have learned that there are no small parts and even though we were simply a member of the multitude, my testimony about the Savoir was heard each night by thousands of people. It was an incredible feeling to act and portray the life and times of the Savior. I could feel a peace and special presence there. I am a Mormon because I know there is only one true prophet on the earth right now and that is Pres. Thomas S. Monson. I know our Father in Heaven wouldn't leave us here without a map or guide to return home. I feel the power and strength of the words in the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I feel and know that this church is true the more I learn, read, and investigate I feel the light and goodness that comes from living and being apart of this church. It is so worth it to learn more and become more in this life, that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

It gives me a sense of satisfaction to serve and help in this church. There are many opportunities to teach and help others. I have taught the younger children and teenage classes at different times in my life. We have opportunities to visit our neighbors that are members and make sure they are okay and teach a lesson. I enjoy the fact that the church is unified and works the same way no matter where you go the chance to serve and be a part of the ward or area is the same no matter where we have lived. Recently I have had the chance to teach the preschoolers while their parents are in class on Sunday. We get to sing songs, play with toys, have a snack time and teach them of Jesus and families. It has been very rewarding to help out and feel like I am contributing to the greater picture and good of the church instead of just be a passive participant. I have had a chance to serve in the community with the Mesa Arizona Temple Easter Pageant. We got to dress like the multitude in Jerusalem when Jesus was alive and act out the play of his birth through the death and resurrection. It was an exciting and exhausting experience but it was worth all the days and nights of practice as well as the two weeks of performance to feel the power of the spirit and see the life of Jesus in the New Testament come to life. My son got a chance to sit next to the Savior when he called the little children to him. It was an incredible experience bearing our testimony to thousands of people each night. I am trying everyday to live my faith by the things I say to others, the way I dress, becoming more Christ like and nonjudgemental. We live in a world that is so fast paced, full of technology, people get more stressed and impatient with those around them. I try to live according to the teachings of the prophets in the scriptures as well as our modern day leaders. I know that if I can follow our Savior, become like Him I will feel happier and stronger to deal with lifes challenges.
